Tthe Red Triangle Factory remains a very attractive place for all those who love abandoned buildings. It is a huge area where a rubber goods factory operated in the 19th and 20th centuries. It produced car tyres, rubber boots, rubberised fabrics and other products where rubber was a major or important component. I assume that at least one product of this factory was in the possession of every resident of our city, even small children, starting from the age of a few months - rubber toys for bathing were also produced at this factory.
Nowadays the territory of this factory is a huge industrial zone, some of the buildings are in ruinised condition, the rest are adapted for temporary use. You never know what you will see behind the next archway: perhaps there will be gloomy brick walls without a roof, and perhaps the next building will be shining with fresh windows. The factory buildings are internally numbered. I notice on one of the buildings an old ceramic sign ‘Building No. 296’, just above it there are blue and red stereo glasses attached to the wall - I don't know who came up with this idea, but it looks symbolic.
The sign above the gate is in Latin letters - it certainly couldn't have survived from the old days, but it looks very old. This artefact perplexes me. It is clearly out of place here! I walk further and notice paper flyers with text in Spanish. I take a picture of the drawings to find the sources on the internet. I soon learn that they are posters from the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939. Apparently some kind of film was recently shot here. The old brick walls are the perfect backdrop for films about World War II and the events that preceded it.
The buildings I walk past seem empty and completely abandoned, but suddenly I hear a drum solo - there's a rehearsal point somewhere. The location is perfect, the loud music here can't disturb anyone. I walk past a wooden fence - a piece of rural life in the midst of the metropolis, it seems as if I'm about to hear a cow mooing or a goat bleating. But, of course, nothing of the sort happens. Behind the fence are just trees and cut grass, but it does feel like a small private garden.
Gradually I emerge from the most derelict part of the grounds and approach the buildings with rich tenants. It seems that even the brick of the walls is not so dark here - has it really been washed? New double-glazed windows shine in the windows, bright lights and video cameras are mounted on the walls of the buildings, and parking spaces are marked with markings and limited by chains. A security guard is on duty in a booth, but graffiti still appears on the walls. This is where I'm going to end my walk today, nearby is the exit from the grounds. I saw only a small part of the factory territory during this walk, but there are a lot of impressions.
