Today I am going to write the post that I intended to write yesterday and talked about in this post. It is an initiative that was started by @livinguktaiwan and the basic idea is to show how people all over the world are using Hive.
What better way to onboard a new user and generate some excitement than by showing them all the people across the globe that are already using the platform.
The rules are pretty simple... Use the #hifromhive tag and pin your location on the Hi From Hive Pinmapple map. See, easy, you just click the "get code" button, then drop a pin in your location. At the bottom of the screen is the code you copy an paste at the top of your post.
The post itself is a free-write about your time or experiences on Hive. So, without further ado...
I have said this many times before, but if you had told me almost three years ago I would have my own blog site I would have laughed you out of the room. The thought that I would have anything of value to share with the world was ridiculous.
Well, here I am 36 moons later and I have honestly learned so much since being on the blockchain.
Little things like being sure to cut down the resolution on my photos before I post them. I usually make them about 40% of the size my phone actually takes them at. This doesn't compromise the quality too much, but it allows your post to load faster for those readers who are on a mobile device in the far reaches of the world.
Over the years I have come to find a voice and style here on Hive. I am happy to say I have settled in and have found a group of users who genuinely enjoy my content (at least they pretend to).
On the flip side, this "voice" has so much become a part of me that it is hard to shake. I recently took a position at @eos.detroit as a Staff Writer increasing my responsibilities from my previous role as BOID Team Leader.
The writing for them is much more technical and quite a change from what I have learned and honed over the years on here. Never in my life would I have considered myself "too wordy". I look forward to this shift in style and I hope that I can soon find a path to move back and forth between the two worlds. So far they have been really understanding and willing to help which is totally awesome for an old dog like me.
So there you go. I'd love to see some more people join in this #hifromhive initiative. If you follow me and you haven't done it yet, you totally should.
Now, I'm going to hurry up and post this before the Hard Fork!
