In today's game I tried out a technique I learned from watching the Gotham Chess video from the "Chess Steps" series, for 1000-1400.
Seeing as I'm a 1479 rated player I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately I didn't study the preparation to closely, however I managed to get an incredible win after sacrificing both my rooks and losing all attacking pieces bar a knight and my queen.
It was a pretty exciting game, and all in all I'm happy because I was stuck in a rut, playing the same opening with black over and over again.
I've noticed that my black opening, once I'm playing players at around the 1550 mark, stops working. I'm pretty confident with my white opening and I would play that against anyone 1600 and below, however black has been weak.
I will watch the last part of the Gotham Chess video again, so that next time I can play the position in a little less of a kamikaze fashion!
