Today I was going through my feed when I came across the hive naija weekly prompt post. Then It dawned on me that it's been a really long time since I participated in the weekly prompts. After reading the prompt post I figured I had to participate. The topic "what does hive mean to you?" is a very interesting one.

I still remember the beginning like it was just yesterday. I had asked my cousin @k-banti to teach me how to earn money online and he led me to hive. I remember not having faith in my writing ability. Taking how many months to write my introduction post only for it to be somewhat shitty. Reading it now, I'd say it was definitely an over rewarded post. After writing my second post and watching it get snubbed I lost all motivation. I probably would have given up, but for k-banti pushing me to keep trying. I kept trying, though at a rather slow pace (about 1 post every week or two) until I landed myself at @theterminal's discord server. From there I began learning more about the block chain. Any questions I had I'd ask them immediately, and they were always online to respond no matter the time.

With time I've grown, and I'm still growing. Now I can confidently say I love hive, and I have many reasons to say that.
When I first joined, I didn't notice because I wasn't interacting enough. But hive is filled with so many genuinely generous and kind people who are very willing to help and support you. I can't count the amount of generous people I have come across. At times I wonder whether it's the same human race I know of that's on hive. The warm embrace I have received and see people receive can not be found on any other social platform.
Other than the community, hive has given me the chance to earn while doing something I enjoy. I used to enjoy writing fiction, but I never thought I could earn a single dime from it unless I produced a book, which would cost me money and may not sell. But here on hive, all I need to do is write a really good short story and I could get rewarded almost instantly.
Another thing which I think isn't spoken about enough is the amount of information that is available here. I have learnt so much in my relatively short time here. I Learned a lot about crypto and block chain and even about the lives of people living on the other side of the world. A lot of information which isn't easily accessible outside is easily accessed over here.
When I realized that hive itself is just turning two years old in a couple of days, I felt so happy because I know that these are the early days. Hive is yet to get into a lot of ears yet and when It does we will have a lot of people tripping in, both investors and content creators. Which is very good for the hive economy. I often look ahead and each time I look it feels like I am securing my future.

When I look back on my journey, I'm extremely grateful that I didn't give up at the start. I'm happy I persevered. I'm happy I found the terminal, I'm happy I'm still active today, and I'm happy with the progress I've made so far. By the grace of God I'll continue to progress. Thank you very much for reading this far, have a very wonderful day.
