Last weekend was one of the busiest weekends of my life. It was @zyzymena, my elder sister's wedding. A wedding we can't just stop talking about. We prayed and cried unto the Lord to see us through the planning and the main event, and he heeded to our prayers and did just that by making it a huge success.
To be sincere, It's not easy planning a wedding. All hands were on deck to make sure the ceremony was a success. We had to make sure everything was perfect and all the vendors were at their best.
We just wanted a wedding everyone would attend and be glad they did. We just wanted to satisfy the guest, and make them comfortable in the process. We needed the wedding to be a wedding to remember, and by the grace of God we accomplished this.
@zyzymena is my immediate elder sister. She is a rare gem who has never forsaken me in my times of troubles and needs. She has never failed to support me in all aspect of my life. Tell me why I won't go all out for her? I'm actually sad I couldn't do more for her because of one reason or the other, but I can boastfully say I did my best, and she appreciated my effort so much. That alone meant a lot to me.
At the registry
The registry was done last week Thursday, and I was privileged to be part of those who witnessed it. After all the talking by the person in charge, the marriage certificate was issued to them. They became legally married after the registry on that day, but not according to the customs and traditions of our land.
Since most people recognise the traditional marriage as the main marriage that actually unites the couple, there was a need for them to be married traditionally. And so, that was included as part of the events to take place on that day. It was actually the first that will take place in the morning before any other thing.
My Humble Self
Preparations were in full gear on Friday and most of our extended family members, friends and guests arrived that same day. I had to carry most of these persons to the hotel we booked for them, so they would freshen up and relax, awaiting the D-Day. Up till that moment, everything went on fine without a glitch.

Bridal Shower
That Friday night, my sister was in her room trying to relax when her friends called her to another room in the same hotel to surprise her with a well planned bridal shower. You need to see the joy in her when she entered the room to meet the surprise. Her friends did so well to put smile on her face that night and I know she will never forget that moment in a hurry.
I literally didn't sleep throughout that night as I was trying to make sure everything was set. Early that morning, I rushed down to the event center to make sure everything there was ready. I carried the drinks and other stuffs down there, placed the banners at strategic places and then went down to carry the groom to the traditional marriage venue.
I missed out on most of the events that took place during the traditional marriage since I was running around to make sure things were in orderπ. But I made sure I didn't fail to take a picture with the couple.. π..
The traditional marriage was more than our expectation since we never expected the number of persons that came. We actually thought most of these people would all be coming just for the reception, but they shocked us .. π π. I'm just happy the food and drinks were enough to go round.
After the traditional marriage, my sister had to rush down to the hotel to change to her white wedding gown before coming down to the event center to take her vows and for the reception. The song 'Here comes the Bride', played as she walked down the aisle with our dad. I really don't know how to describe that moment, all I can say is that It was such an emotional moment for both father and daughter. π...
My father handed her over to her husband and both of them romantically took their vows. Hearing them taking their vows made me wish u was the one doing so. π.. Don't mind me.. Mine will come soon. When they were done taking their vows, we all went out to take photographs. Sadly, I couldn't take pictures with them that moment because I was busy inside coordinating a lot of things.
My sister went back into the hall with a stunning dance performance. To be sincere, I never knew she could dance the way she did though. But again, It was her day, why wouldn't she dance her heart out I thought. I could see the joy in her and that alone made me so happy. Did I mention that I danced also?... π.. You needed to see me rocking the dance floor... π.. It was indeed a day I wouldn't forget in a hurry.
I'm so happy everything went according to plan. There were plenty of food and drinks to go round, and we made sure everyone who came were all fed, even though the hall was filled to the brim. All thanks to God who made it possible, the wedding was a huge success.
