START OF THE WEEK, NOT FOR THE WEAK
It's Monday again. The hustling and bustling shall continue. Or maybe it never really stopped. Technically, a new week starts on Sunday. It doesn't quite feel this way tho, as Sunday is a day of rest and is usually seen as part of the weekend which generally begins on Friday evening for most people.
People mostly spend the weekend trying to ease the stress of the previous week in their own various ways. From just staying in and resting all through to engaging in recreational activities such as swimming, cycling, driving, chatting with friends and so much more, depending on what each individual defines as fun. Then the new week comes along to disrupt this state of calm and ease that most people are already accustomed to by then. For this reason, a lot of people find it very hard to immediately switch to the hardworker the working week need them to be.
I am one the 'most people' too. I woke up this morning with some aches in my back. Remnants from a swimming competition I engaged in last week which I shall talk about in another post. But being a medical student, I knew I didn't have much of a choice but to appear in school. Light has been bad throughout the weekend and devices and gadgets were almost dead, if not dead already. Combine that with the cocktail of low humidity and low temperature that this weather gifts us, and maybe you would be able to understand why I didn't feel like leaving my bed this morning. I started a new posting today-Opthalmology. Got to the departmental meeting which was slated for 9am a bit late. By now l, the physical activity has reduced the feeling of cold and made me feel more alive. Then we went to the clinic where we met a very friendly female consultant who really made the day for us. Then tutorials, and more tutorials.
Summarily, this day has been very hectic as opposed to the day directly preceding it. That sharp change it switch is one that is not the easiest to navigate. But in my experience, as long as we just keep moving, indeed, the path becomes easier to tread the more we move forward. Indeed, the start of the week is not for the weak. It might not get easier really, which means that to survive we would have to become stronger and better. My hope is that you find some encouragement in all this.
