Look around you; There are a lot of ambitious people who want to achieve as much as possible. These are people who want more and they are ready to push themselves beyond their limit to be successful.
Typically, having a unique skill, having a rich background and being connected with highly rated people is among the notable factors that set us on the path of success. This is why we are always trying to learn as many skills as possible and subsequently nurture the skills we already have.
At the moment, people are willing to pay to acquire skills that will bring them a step closer to achieving their goals. And people also force themselves to mingle with others for the sake of building good rapport and getting more acquainted with whom they consider to be highly rated in society.
All these are understandable.
The reality is that our chances of being successful depend on the choices we make.
In our attempt to feed our ambitious appetite, some choices will always come back to bite us.
That's where discipline comes into play. We can't say enough about the importance of discipline. I thought that I may as well share a brief story and hope you have it at the back of your mind while making choices in life.
So, while I was surfing the internet this morning, I saw a news report about a Policeman who was arrested for working together with robbers. Evidence shows that he has been doing this for a couple of years.
Guess what the man said in his defence;
I'm the only one with income in my household and officers don't get paid enough.
Do you see that? It's a load of bull...t!
I've heard this flimsy excuse before. I heard it from the police officer who used his official gun to rob stores at night. I also heard it from a bunch of police officers who harass citizens on the highway to get bribes and share with their Superiors. The officer that allowed a criminal to walk said the same thing.
When cops get charged for bribery, they blurt out that same line. Yeah, none of them ever gets paid enough.
And so?
Yeah, I know that they are being underpaid, but I haven't seen a lot of officers that are being paid enough. Every one of them gets paid the same amount at first, but not all of them sell their pride because of their desire to make more.
I sound blunt. Eh?
I know!
No offence meant to those that are trying their best to make the right choice even when it seems as if everything is working against them.
Now, wherever you see yourself, I want you to be ambitious.
Always try to make your tomorrow better than your today. But in all, be disciplined enough to make the right choices.
Let's choose wisely.
Shall We?
