Here in my country, there have been several protest going on regarding ending SARS and ending police brutality. SARS means Special Anti-robbery Squad which is aimed to protect the properties and lives of it's citizens but they seem to have become a lost cause. They have left their jurisdiction into focusing in harming the society.
The so called SARS, focuses on young people especially the guys who are well dressed or maybe riding a nice car for the personal aim of extorting money from them. They stop you for nothing, ask for your phones, ask useless questions, harass you and would end up shooting a person if they don't give them what they want.
At this case, it is definitely worst for guys who makes their living online or who sort of receive payments in crypto form. They would not want to listen to any form of explanation. The lives of Nigerians in the crypto world are at risk if they fall in the hands on any of this guys because it would turn out very bad.
There have been different cases of people dying or better say youths being murdered in the hands of these officers and nothing is being done. The highest that it can go is that the family of the deceased would be given some amount to silence them but that rarely happens. It mostly goes thus as far that the cold body of the deceased would be returned to the family.
The preventive measures I take to keep me from being badly treated on the hands of this guys is to hide and lock crypto related apps on my phone because if I get stopped by, that's the first thing they would notice and I will be in deep shit for it. Next, I would clear browser history and clear mails that are crypto related to be on a safe side. Your bank app could put you in a bad situation especially when you have a lot of money in it, so it is best to lock and hide your bank application away. With all these, if they check your phone and they see nothing, you would probably won't be held up.
