Your CV can make or mar you. What a lot of persons don't know is that a lot of employers, especially in the UK, decide to employ you on the strength of your CV. For over a year, I get regular calls from prospective employers asking if I need a job just because they saw my CV and loved it.
A good CV is not necessarily one with fifteen or thirty pages. A good CV is one that makes you the perfect fit for the role you are seeking, one that tailors your competence to the particular role you want and makes you look more employable. A good CV will get you a foot in the door - secure you that job interview you need to shine. You cannot land a job without getting an interview. You almost cannot get an interview without a good CV.
A powerful CV can make employers 'salivate' over you.
Beware of lying on your CV. If you are invited for an interview, most of the questions may be centred on things on your CV. However, beware of underselling yourself. Many Nigerians are guilty of this. Have you highlighted the relevant experiences that may be needed in the job you are applying for? Did they make it to your first page?
Most persons apply for jobs blindly without doing due diligence and get frustrated when they don't get interviews. Have you read the person description of the job you are applying for to know what exactly they are looking for? Are you even suited for the said job?
