In terms of fashion and aesthetic, even if you’ve never watched the show, you will definitely have seen guys with the Peaky Blinders’ short back and sides haircut, which has become increasingly popular ever since Peaky Blinders landed on our screens in 2013. Some fans even go further and wear the distinctive tailored jackets, overcoats, button waistcoats, leather boots and the infamous flat caps that were used as a weapon to injure or blind enemies.

The story is set in a post World War 1 Birmingham, (England) and it revolves around the Peaky Blinders gang and their ambitious and highly cunning boss, Tommy Shelby.
Although the fiction changes facts and names, it was originally based on the first organized gang of the same name that existed in Birmingham, England, between the 1800s to 1900s. The group, which grew out of the harsh economic deprivations of working class Britain, was composed largely of young men of lower to middle-classes. Their crimes were similar to the ones shown in the TV series, including violence, robbery, illegal bookmaking, gambling. However, the historical time line does not match the fiction dates, as the true band had disappeared before the First World War.

Thomas Shelby Right from the first episode when Tommy appears on his horse with a cigarette in his mouth and people hide from him, you can tell he’s not like any other men.
Upon his return from the bloody and brutal war, Thomas dumps in a canal the medals for bravery he earned in World War I, an action that speaks loud of his disillusion and utter lack of respect for authority.
In spite of being severely affected by post-traumatic stress disorder and nightmares, he seizes the opportunity to make a better life for himself and his family, moving up in the world up so that the powerful classes who had always oppressed them can no longer touch them.
It is less about money and more about dominance and control. For Tommy Shelby, it is not enough to be rich. He wants a life with no one else being able to tell him what to do. He is both a product of the hard times he endured and someone who fights to change these circumstances.

Highly unstable and emotional, the scars of the war and all the violence he’s seen and committed run deep in his soul and prevent him from having a normal life. His anger problems get worse and worse, reaching appalling brutality peaks.

As the plot thickens, she starts having conflicts and disagreements with Tommy, mainly because of his alliance with fascists and her son Michael.
Ada Shelby The younger sister of the gang's Shelby leaders. She supports the communist cause and initially disapproves of the Shelby businesses and pulls back from her family.
However, she is always torn between her ideals as a communist and her temptation to enjoy the beautiful things life has to
offer so she eventually accepts a leading position in the family business.
Her relation with Tommy has always been difficult but so far she has remained loyal to the family.
Polly Gray Es la tía, la matriarca, el corazón y el alma de la familia Shelby y también la tesorera de la banda. Ella, que había dirigido el negocio cuando los hombres estaban en la guerra, se convirtió en consejera cuando ellos volvieron.
