Hello music loversđź‘‹... dannyvibez here again in the week 248 of Hive Open Mic and for this week, I'll be performing a cover song by Hillsong titled "Oceans".
A LITTLE ABOUT THE SONG
Written by Matt Crocker, Joel Houston, and Salomon Ligthelm, the song is known for its deeply spiritual and emotional lyrics, focusing on faith, trust, and reliance on God in uncertain or challenging times.
The song's key theme revolves around stepping out of comfort zones and trusting God's guidance, much like Peter walking on water toward Jesus (Matthew 14:22–33). The lyrics metaphorically describe being called into the unknown, where faith is strengthened, and God's presence provides comfort and direction.
WHAT THE SONG MEANS TO ME
Whenever I hear it, I feel challenged to trust God even in the moments where I feel most uncertain or afraid. The lyrics, "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders," hit home because they push me to surrender my fears and doubts, stepping into the unknown with the assurance that God is with me.
The song resonates deeply with my own journey, especially during times when I feel like I'm walking on shaky ground. It reminds me that, like Peter walking on water, I’m not called to rely on my strength but to keep my eyes fixed on God. "Oceans" inspires me to move beyond my comfort zone and trust that His grace will sustain me, no matter how deep the waters may seem.
I'm excited to be in this wonderful community and I appreciate the team: @cabelindsay, @mipiano, @jesuslnrs, @fernanblog, @stickupboys, @alex-rourke, and @starstrings01.
LYRICS
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand
And I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
