Hello Hive and Hive Open Mic family, it is an honor to step once again on this virtual world stage that connects us all through music to promote week after week the power of unity expressed through Global Harmony. To close the week I come to accompany you with a very cool song that became a classic of the early 2000's thanks to MTV.
Coffee and TV is the 2nd single from the album “13” by the British band Blur, released in 1999. The song talks about the band's guitarist's struggle with addictions and how drinking coffee in front of the TV helped him to relax even when writing songs. Based on this anecdote from the musician, coffee represents calm, peace and even relaxation for many (including myself); besides being a natural energizer, coffee is usually accompanied by a delicious dessert and great company. In my particular case, I am a coffee lover, I like to have a daily cup while sitting on the balcony of my apartment to watch people walk by, see the sun at its best and feel the breeze on my face. Every time I drink coffee I get full of energy and my mood improves instantly, so I can do my daily activities with a lot of excitement and focus.
Something I love about this song, is its playful and fun rhythm, every time I listen to it I feel that it is a musical reflection of that feeling we have when we go down the street and nothing else matters to us because we are in our world dissociating ourselves from the bad and trying to be happy in a complex world full of existential conflicts. In tune with what I talked about in the Lemon Tree song, I chose this song because it fits my voice perfectly, which gave me a lot of comfort when singing; I did a second voice in the chorus taking into account that the original song has additional voices. Hola familia de Hive y del Hive Open Mic, es un honor pisar una vez más esta tarima virtual mundial que nos conecta a todos mediante la música para promover semana a semana el poder de la unión expresado mediante la Armonía Global. Para cerrar la semana vengo a acompañarles con una canción muy genial que se convirtió en un clásico de inicios del 2000 gracias a MTV.
Coffee and TV es el 2do sencillo del álbum "13" de la banda británica Blur, lanzado en 1999. La canción habla de la lucha contra las adicciones por parte del guitarrista de la banda y de como tomar un café frente al televisor lo ayudaba a relajarse incluso para escribir canciones. Partiendo de esta anécdota del músico, un café representa calma, paz e incluso relajación para muchos (me incluyo); además de ser un energizante natural, el café suele estar acompañado de un rico postre y de una genial compañía. En mi caso particular, soy amante del café, me gusta tomar una taza diaria mientras me siento en el balcón de mi apartamento para ver a la gente pasar, ver el sol en su máximo esplendor y sentir la brisa en mi rostro. Cada vez que tomo café me lleno de energía y mi ánimo mejora instantáneamente, así logro hacer mis actividades diarias con mucha emoción y enfoque.
Algo que me encanta de esta canción, es su ritmo juguetón y divertido, cada vez que la escucho siento que es un reflejo musical de esa sensación que tenemos cuando vamos por la calle y nada más nos importa porque estamos en nuestro mundo disociándonos de lo malo e intentando ser felices en un mundo complejo y lleno de conflictos existenciales. En sintonía con lo que les hablé en la canción de Lemon Tree, elegí esta canción porque se adapta a mi voz perfectamente, lo que me dio mucha comodidad a la hora de cantar; hice una segunda voz en los coros teniendo en cuenta que la canción original tiene voces adicionales. Al final del post les dejo el video de la canción, es simplemente fantástico!
