Hello Hive Open mic Community
It's week 102 and we are singing along with the topic, Touching Souls.
How else can we touch souls without music. Sharing our music is definitely a beautiful way to touch souls.
We love to do this and can share it here. When I hear any soul, it leaves a big impact on my mind, aside the technicalities I often think about, I wanna consider
What the writer was thinking about?
Why the writer sang it, if he did or someone else had to?
What the singer want to derive from people hearing his or her song?
These 3 things I m sure every musician would love to consider over writing a song and singing it as well.
I often believe I can touch more souls through music than medicine myself. Lol.
But building up to this video, I had always want to do a song with @mipiano because her music touched my own soul and I got stuck. I have a few of her videos downloaded through the @threespeak website and I play them most days or even try to play to them. Most times I just watch her hands and the dexterity of her fingers and wonder how she had grow such verve over the years playing the the piano.
I must say this video is practically in celebration of how impactful she has been to me and many others on the hive platform, she is such an interesting person, a mother at heart and a lover of nature.
Thank you so much @mipiano for this beautiful experience and the mini experiences in between on the path to succeeding in making the video.
Its was a lot to come along with, but I m glad something good is what we got at the end.
Shoot... Cut.. warp.. shoot again... Compress send... Edit.. lol. Every experience has a lesson to learn. I learnt more than a lesson. I developed a skill. Hehe.
The song we had chosen to do was "Say something" by A Great Big World.
A very heart felt song, I had to try to express a bit of what it depicts.
It depicts an soul in dire need of expectation and longing for an answer from another, perhaps a response as a feedback of love, or help as the singer says "I m giving up on you". Well you may wanna figure that out from the video.
Sometimes our souls need the other party to indicate their interest in something before they can agree to walk together.
Even the Bible does say that 2 can't walk together except they agree. Neither can they work together as it were.
For this song is a classic and when @mipiano chose I was elated and have hurried to master it over and over, ready for when her piano play would be ready. Well .. well .. well.. it came around eventually. Hehehe. And that day I was so excited only my excitement was not enough to push away all the work on my table. I wish they could all just vanish away and I get to do what I loved to do, to sing, and at that to Mipiano's tunes. But then in her motherly calm way, she said, "It is when you can, no hurries". Hehe. I felt like oh. Okay.. I have to calm down.
In the long run, it was fun doing this, again I learnt so many new skills and can practically do a cover or collabo with anyone having learnt to be successful with this. I am excited.
I hope this cover touching your soul out there. Nothing should stop you from saying something too if it matters to the soul you love.
