Greetings to the amazing Open Mic community. In this week #270, we explore the theme: “Holy Spirit.” I am pleased to share my trumpet performance of “How Insensitive,” a song that blends genres such as bossa nova, jazz, and classical music, composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes in 1960. The melody has a descending melancholic contour with a syncopated rhythm and extended chord harmony. The key is D Minor, and the lyrics speak of unrequited love. I have had the opportunity to hear versions by Jobim, Frank Sinatra, and Diana Krall. The song title is sophisticated yet elegant, a way of expressing coldness, indifference, or lack of empathy. We live in a world filled with insensitivity that contrasts with spirituality. Today more than ever, we need a balance between the tangible and the spiritual.

Un grato saludo a esta asombrosa comunidad de Open Mic. En esta semana #270, exploramos la temática: “Holy Spirit”. Tengo el agrado de compartir mi interpretación con mi trompeta de «How Insensitive», una canción que mezcla géneros como la bossa nova, el jazz y la música clásica compuesta por Antônio Carlos Jobim y Vinícius de Moraes en 1960. La melodía tiene un contorno melancólico descendente con un ritmo sincopado y una armonía con acordes extendidos. La tonalidad se encuentra en D Menor y la letra habla de un amor no correspondido. He tenido la oportunidad de escuchar versiones de Jobim & Frank Sinatra, y Diana Krall. El título de la canción es sofisticado y a la vez elegante, una manera de expresar frialdad, indiferencia o falta de empatía. Vivimos en un mundo lleno de insensibilidad que contrasta con la espiritualidad. Hoy más que nunca se necesita tener un equilibrio entre lo tangible y lo espiritual.
The Holy Spirit has been a great blessing in my life, and it is thanks to this member of the Trinity that I have been able to recognize and accept the Gospel. Thanks to this wonderful divine gift, we can know the truth of all things, receive guidance and inspiration at the right time to do the right thing, feel peace and comfort in difficult times, and be spiritually healed. I love knowing that God's influence is more powerful, and that through the Holy Spirit we can resist darkness and evil. When we are willing to do God's will, we are blessed with spiritual growth and can feel that we are on the path of truth. That connection with God increases when we pray, sing, and enjoy Christian music. Music is inspiring and is a powerful vehicle to feel and appreciate the Holy Spirit. May God bless you with the Holy Spirit in your lives, and enjoy this performance.

El Espíritu Santo ha sido una gran bendición en mi vida y es que gracias a este miembro de la Trinidad he podido reconocer y aceptar el Evangelio. Gracias a esta maravillosa dádiva divina podemos conocer la verdad de todas las cosas, recibir guía e inspiración en el momento oportuno para hacer lo correcto, sentir paz y consuelo en tiempos difíciles, así como ser sanados espiritualmente. Me encanta saber que la influencia de Dios es más poderosa, y que por medio del Espíritu Santo podemos resistir la oscuridad y la maldad. Cuando estamos dispuestos a hacer la voluntad de Dios, somos bendecidos con crecimiento espiritual y podemos sentir que estamos en la senda de la verdad. Esa conexión con Dios aumenta cuando oramos, cantamos, y disfrutamos de la música cristiana. La música es inspiradora, y es un vehículo poderoso para sentir y apreciar al Espíritu Santo. Que Dios les bendiga con el Espíritu Santo en sus vidas y disfruten de esta interpretación.
