We haven’t had another meetup since the last one two months ago due to a lot of factors beyond our control. So imagine the joy when @fokusnow announced there was going to be a meetup on June 7th, 2025. We were so thrilled to hear that because we’ve genuinely missed ourselves , the energy, the familiar faces of active Hivers, and the spirit of the SpendHBD community.
A lot of us had been silently asking, “When next are we gathering again?” The last meetup had a massive turnout of Hive friends across the city of Aba, and today followed the same trend, with both old faces and some new ones who hadn’t been part of the last hangout. It felt good to gather again, laugh again, and just vibe with people who understand what Hive is all about.
As expected, no Hive meetup ends without learning something valuable. Our dear Hiver and Spendhbd promoter from the city of Lagos,@beauty197 set the tone with a talk that struck home for many of us. She spoke on the danger of being too comfortable in our comfort zones, especially on Hive. It’s common to get stuck in routines: write a post, scroll a bit, vote, log off. But Hive is bigger than that. She challenged us to stop holding ourselves back and push beyond that routine. Whether it’s trying out new content styles, engaging more meaningfully, or discovering other communities, we were reminded that there’s always room to grow. And for those who feel unsure about where to begin, she reassured us that growth can start small, just with a willingness to try.
That talk was followed by @fokusnow, who shared some practical steps for those struggling to find their footing in the community.Aside the basics that @fokusnow mentioned befor, which included an overview of how SpendHBD works, how to shop with HBD and get discounts, and how the ecosystem ties into Hive, he dropped one of the most exciting insights of the day: content creation as a way to earn.
He explained how everyday shoppers can simply make a short video while shopping at a listed SpendHBD shop, post it on 3Speak, and start earning HBD through engagement. This talk couldn’t have come at a better time, as several people had been asking how else they could earn through Hive aside from just spending. Some have already received one-on-one mentorship on how to get started, and the positive feedback from their experience has inspired others to try it too. It’s amazing to see how shopping with HBD is now transforming into content creation and income generation.
Beyond that, @fokusnow also outlined some very practical steps that anyone looking to be more involved in the SpendHBD ecosystem can take:
Onboard New Users: You can introduce people to Hive and sign them up directly via spendhbd.com/sign-up. Each person you bring in helps grow the ecosystem, and you also earn passively whenever they make purchases from listed shops.
Start a Supply Chain: Know someone who owns a shop but isn’t ready to sign up yet? You can offer to buy goods on their behalf from a listed shop and resell to them. You become the link between SpendHBD and local businesses.
Launch Your Own Business: If you’ve been dreaming of starting a small business, you can start one that accepts HBD. The SpendHBD team is actively encouraging this and supporting it. And here’s the interesting part, if you’re short on funds, you can now apply for a business loan through a Distriator and repay later.
These weren’t just ideas thrown in the air, they were actionable steps, shared with real-life use cases and clarity.
The meetup wasn’t a monologue , it was interactive. Questions were asked, perspectives were shared, and solutions were offered. The room had an energy that felt like something is really shifting. You could sense that people weren’t just there to hang out, they were ready to build.
After the session, we gathered for a group photo of course, and then headed to a nearby listed restaurant to refresh ourselves. We used HBD to pay for the refreshments , and this part of the meetup made a huge impression, especially on the newcomers. Watching HBD being used in real life, not in theory , showed just how real and usable Hive earnings are. That single experience probably answered more questions than any talk could have been able to answer.

The meetup reminded us once again why these gatherings matter. They spark connection, ignite new ideas, and pull us closer into a thriving community that keeps growing both online and offline. We walked away more informed, more connected, and definitely more inspired. We hope to do this again, in the coming months, so 8f you're around tge city of Aba, you can join us.
