There is this pretty young girl asked an elderly woman, "Do I really need friends in my race of life?"
The elderly woman responded;
Yes you do, Life is truly very rough for there should be someone by your side with whom you can always talk to for hours without having the feeling they would judge you, on whose shoulders you can cry, someone who will give you emotional support. When no one will be there for you, they should be there. That One person who should help you share the good times and help you overcome the difficult ones.
The young girl asked:
"Is it true, a fake friend is more dangerous than an enemy?"
The elderly woman replied:
"Yes!. That's because you know who your enemy is and you wouldn't let them get any close to you. But a fake friend is pretends while gaining your trust. They get to find out your vulnerabilities, secrets and your dreams. They equally knows which button to operate on and how to stab you in the back."
The young girl asked again:
"How do I avoid these fake friends?"
The elderly woman paused for a moment, then asked her, Between a small garden and a forest, which one of them has more snakes and scorpions?"
The young girl answered:
The forest for sure
The elderly woman smiled, and said to her:
Very Good! When you get to keep your circle of friends small like as a small garden, the lesser scorpions and snakes you have to worry about. The more fewer people you get to hang around with, the fewer problems you attach yourself with. The elderly womsn said, When I was young, I had a very big group of friends but as I began growing old and wise with experience, my circle of friends then became smaller. I then realized that quality typically outweighs quantity when it comes to friendship.
She stated, Don’t be fooled by your own self by holding onto the illusion that everyone on earth is your friend. You may have numerous friends, but the real friends are always just a few people you trust and love. The most preferred way to prevent yourself from falling into the fake friend trap is by being choosing whom you want to be your friend and being more mindful about the size of your circle, then you're good to go.
