I’m thrilled to share my experience hosting my very first SpendHBD training session as a speaker! It was an incredible opportunity to dive into one of the most impactful projects in the Hive blockchain — SpendHBD — and help others understand how we can use our digital assets more effectively while contributing to the growth of the Hive ecosystem.
The session was filled with great interaction, questions, and a shared enthusiasm for learning how we can move beyond just holding tokens and start using them meaningfully. Let me walk you through what I covered during the training.
What is SpendHBD?
First I started by sharing what this project is and what it meant for every one of us. It allows us to use our $hbd more efficiently and make the more out of it. Using instances from daily life and how a simple cashback reward can really improve both our shopping experience and our spending.
To make sure I was followed allowed, I threw questions @ the audience and their replies showed they were following along.
Understanding Hive Blockchain
Before continuing, I had to explain what what hive really is, and to do that, I started by asking what Hive is. @happiahjoseph explained to us how she understands it; "it is a social media website where we create content and earn rewards and can use our rewards for shopping and other things". I said in my heart, 'she's been with us' and truly she has and now with her big sis. Happy to welcome everyone.
I went deeper, Hive is a decentralised web3 Blockchain which allows user to build and create their own projects while still on Hive, and we have various front ends like #ecency, #peakd, #inleo, #splinterlands, #3speak and many more and they are all connected to Hive and we can create our content from either of these front ends. Showing them how it works and exploring them.
What is Distriator?
SpendHBD would not be fully explained if Distriator is not in the picture, as it is the App where we claim our cashback reward, compete on the leaderboard, sign in newbies and create a review for our shopping.
How it works
- Sign in using keychain or private keys
- After making a purchase, click on the claim button.
- Take pictures as PoP (proof of payment) of what you bought
- Make a review about your shopping and the business and claim your cashback.

Hosting this training was both humbling and energizing. Seeing people grasp the importance of spending HBD — not just hoarding it — reminded me why project like SpendHBD are so crucial to #Hive and everyone.
