I would very much like to know how. Like many other individuals I am not one to be consumed with fear, I would never put my hand up to being tagged as a life's worrier. I have always considered myself as someone who faces the unknown full on with a great deal of trust and sensibility, a logical person who has the ability to problem solve, someone who is in control of emotions.
But, normality has gone out of the window right now with the ever growing havoc the Delta strain is reeking in the world. The huge numbers of people who are getting infected and the huge number of people dying are overwhelmingly tragic. Sadly there is a big number of children dying with the highly virulent Delta strain in Indonesia. One can only feel the helplessness of Australians who are desperately trying to return to Australia with their children. Now, the noxious Delta strain is in Australia and according to the media quickly spreading.
So, as we all read the blanketed one word headlines telling us of increasing infections every day there is no doubt that I along with many other people in Australia and elsewhere in the world are inclined to become increasingly fearful. I have read that there are some people who are so worried about catching covid that they are not leaving their homes. I don't plan to get that worried.
How do we squash this growing fear? How do we gain a sense of control over our lives again?
We are all different with our perceptions but for me it is about facing the fear and getting on with life as I follow the rules of mask wearing, staying the distance away from others and wash/sanitise hands. I don't take a lot of notice of media headlines, I read the whole article to get the bigger picture of what is actually happening. Getting the right information lessens any worry I might be feeling.
And like a lot of people my travel plans may not pan out given the current outbreak of the Delta strain in Queensland. How long we are locked down is anybody's guess right now so all I can do is wait and see what happens. I do not have any control over what happens and I am very thankful that I am not sick with covid. While it is a choice to get vaccinated or not it would seem according to recent surveys that 70 to 80% of a population being vaccinated is putting a halt to the spread of covid. This has to be good news.
I am grateful that I can still have the freedom to walk every afternoon, I value my time retreating into nature. It calms any anxieties I may be experiencing.
Goodbye, stay well and healthy
