When I saw the "Silver Prompts#5" Topic "Creepy Stories" I thought of a dream I had the other night.
Omg...I think it was a more of a nightmare, been having quite a lot of those lately.
So my contribution to the "Creepy Stories" Silver Prompts #5 is one based on that nightmare (dream.) and is fiction.
A New Friend from another world,
Sarah drove into the basement parking area to the building, where she was about to start a new job as PA, to the CEO of an Exclusive Clothing Company in town.
She felt a surge of excitement and relief...after being retrenched and jobless for the past three months, forcing her to move back home with her parents.
This new job was a new beginning, her life had taken a more positive angle, and nothing was going to spoil that exhilarating feeling of great achievements she felt, was coming her way at last.
She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear with her hand, her long blonde hair tied back in a bun at the back of her head... after checking her make-up in the rearview mirror, she confidently made her way to the elevator which would take her to the start of a new life.
She was relieved when the door opened immediately, stepping into the elevator behind the controls indicating the floors, she hesitated for a moment, then pressed the 6th floor, with all the excitement, she forgot which floor she was suppose to go to...the elevator was empty so there was no-one to ask.
"Oh well", she thought happily smiling to herself "I still have a bit of time" before signing in for work".
It wouldn't make much difference if she took a little tour of the building, after all, it's going to become her work place and was convinced she would soon become familiar with every area of the place.

The doors opened on the 6th floor and Sarah stepped out into the dark gloomy passage way, before realizing she was on the wrong floor, the elevator doors closed, frantically hitting her hand on the button, hoping to stop it...but, to no avail, she anxiously watched the lights above the doors, flicking from floor to floor, she was sure it would be awhile before it returned to the 6th floor again, so she went in search of the stairway.
The place had an eerie feeling about it....cobwebs hung from the dusty windows, the smell of old mold heavily filled the air, a light fitting swinging from the ceiling, held up by spiderwebs and years of neglect, it was obvious no-one had been up here in years.
The atmosphere was totally nightmarish...was she dreaming?
Sarah let out a screech in horror, as a huge rat ran across the hall towards her, then turned and disappeared down the cold dark passage.
She felt panic rising within her, there was something sinister about this place which made her feel uneasy and very afraid.
She noticed a door way at the end of the passage, and began walking towards it. Her heart pounding furiously in her chest.
The adrenalin started setting in and she felt quite sick in her stomach...where was the stairway she thought, her mind began playing tricks as she frantically searched for away out of there.
Suddenly the lights in the passage started flickering, unnerving her, causing the hairs on the back of her neck to stand up, giving her goose bumps on her arms.
The eeriness of the place was to much for her, and the stench was unbearable, if she didn't get out of there soon, she was going to faint...fear began manifesting itself in her, it was just too horrible to comprehend.
She felt something whisk passed her...like a cold breeze as she approached the door...it was locked, the place was deserted.
No stairway was to be found anywhere, as she turned around, she saw what looked like a shapeless smoky cloud, hovering under the only light that remained working in the hall way...her mouth felt dry and chills ran down her spine, frozen with terror, she felt someone or something watching her from the shadows.
"Please let me wake up out of this nightmare she cried softly",... then the cloud disappeared through the closed door, she wanted to scream for help, but no sound came out of her mouth.
Sarah had never experienced anything so sinister in her life...it was like taking part in a horror movie...could this really be happening to her?
"This is no time to loose it", she tried reassuring herself and taking deep breaths as she walked back to the lift, trying not to take any notice of the creepy shadows dancing on the walls of this scary place.
She had only been there for about ten minutes...but it felt like an eternity, she just wanted to get far away as possible from this horrible place.
As Sarah pressed the button panel of the elevator, the doors opened almost immediately , almost in tears with relief to see a man in a Security Officers uniform standing in it.
He was in his late forties, she thought...feeling safe again with another human around, after experiencing that awful ordeal on the 6th floor, she felt herself relax some what,
"You lost?" he asked in a soft voice.
"Yes...sort of", she nodded meekly.
"I'm about to start my new career in this Company today...but got off on the wrong floor", she rambled on nervously.
He turned to her, his sorrowful blue eyes filled with emptiness and his smile melancholy...Sarah felt a feeling of compassion towards him...and wondered what had caused such deep sadness in his life.
Holding the door open for her, he directed her where to go and wished her well.
She turned to thank him, but the lift doors had already closed...the first friend she made in her new environment, was gone.
Sarah was sure she'd see him again soon, all that was on her mind at that moment, was signing into her new job.
After been introduced to her new colleagues, she settled into her job like a duck to water.

As the days and weeks went by, Sarah wondered where her new friend had disappeared too.
Then one day her Boss asked if she had met their Security Officer, Roy.
"Roy, meet Sarah, my new PA...Sarah meet Roy",
"Pleased to meet you Roy", she replied. "So... we have two Security Officers then?" she asked curiously.
"No, only one Sarah", Roy's been with us for the past ten years now", her boss replied.
"But...then...who is the man in the elevator?"
"Elevator...what man?" Roy asked confused.
Sarah told them the whole story of getting lost on the 6th floor and her nerve racking experience...she went on to tell them how helpful the Security Officer was.
Her Boss and Roy looked at each other confused.
"What did this man look like Sarah?" Roy asked.
"Blondish brownish curly hair greying at the temples, he has the saddest blue eyes she's ever seen". she replied concerned.
Her Boss cleared his throat...baffled at Sarah's reply.
"Sarah....the man you described was George, our previous Security Officer, he lived on the 6th floor in an apartment" he continued the story "He died 10years ago...it was tragic...he was found dead in his apartment, he had a heart attack, no-one has dared to go up there since.
As Sarah listen to her Boss contently in disbelief, she noticed a man standing in the door way of her new office.
It was George...he smiled at her gesturing a wave, then disappeared.
Sarah gasped and pointed to the doorway.
Both men turned around...and saw nothing.
"He was there, just now". she said in shock and white as a sheet.
The two men reassured Sarah, convincing her that her imagination was running wild and that she should forget everything and concentrate on her work.
Sarah was sure they had a notion on what was going on.
In some mysterious way, Sarah thought George was looking after her interests at work.
She never saw him again, but new he was around.
