Monday was a time to check off a "honey-do" list item. We have a little landscaped "sorta" memorial flower garden in our back yard. It is in the fist photo below. I say sort of memorial garden because of some of the items in it. There is a sign from my mother's flower garden with some of her grandkids names. She passed away some years ago. There is also a "Never Forgotten" metal art piece in honor of military fallen.

Problem was that our dogs, especially my wife's little rat mini-Pom would get in it and start chewing on the flowers, or worse piss and poo in it. Regretfully, our older male dog Bito would also hike his leg on stuff as well. So of course something had to be done about this. Thus it was added to the long, ever growing, and never ending "honey-do" list to find a fix.

The prior day the wife and I made a trip to the local hardware and lumber store. We picked up some treated wood. We already had some white vinyl lattice work leftover from a previous project at our old house that we could use, along with 16 inch wood garden stakes that were painted white.

G-man helped with fetching, guiding, and holding the wood and vinyl lattice work while I ripped it down to size with the circular saw. This took us some time because the saw was cordless, and was not top of the line either, so didn't have a lot power behind it when cutting. The batteries drained quickly, so we would get a little cut, then have to charge the batteries for a while and wait. That was okay though because we were in no hurry. At least I wasn't. G-man might have been being young and full of plans.

Once we got the wood and lattice work cut down, it was time to fasten the pieces together. OOPS! Forgot to get the correct size screws. I had long screws but not the short ones for this job. So, off to the hardware store the lovely wife goes for screws and some small washers. Once she returned we began fastening everything down.

Once all the wood, lattice word, and stakes were fastened together, we then just had to hammer the pieces into the ground. We placed the stakes behind the landscaping timbers and gently hammered them in with a mallet. The wife then placed her lights back on the landscaping.

Of course G-man and I had to get a photo in front of our finished project that we did together. We managed to finish it and keep all our fingers and toes.
