Tonight we havea a dinner with a local veterans group I belong to. It is suppsoed to be at a sports themed restaurant. So most likely it will be burger and fries for me, along with a cold beer or two.
What I am looking forward to most is the converstation. I haven't been away from the house much lately. It will be good to get out, socialize and converse with others, especially other vets.
Even though normally I feel like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs when I go to a crowded restaurant, when I am with those guys, I feel much more comfortable for some reason. It is an interesitng experience.
Tomorrow will be even better as I have plans to eat lunch with my youngest son. We haven't spent much time together since he moved out. It will be nice to sit down, catch up with him and what has been happening with his work and school. We are not sure where we are going yet, it will be a last minute choice. But it will defintely be some place that is not crowded.
After lunch we plan to hit what is like an indoor flea market. They usually have some coins for sale there, and I plan to come away with some new specimens for the collection, hopefully.
While there, I would also like to do some shopping for a nice gift for the wife. She is such an awesome support for me. Since I can't drive anymore, she is stuck driving me to appointments, running errands to pick things up for me, steadying me on my wobbly days, and many other care giver things I can't even think of at the moment. I would just like to show her some appreciation that is not on a holiday or birthday.
After the flea market, we may hit a Books-A-Million that is close by. Not sure what I will be looking for. I already have many unread bookos on the bookshelf in my office, but I do like looking. I also like to grab a coffee from the coffee shop in the bookstore.
Anyway, I look forward to tonight and tomorrow. The weekend is yet to be planned, so may just let it be and play it by ear. If the weather is nice, I may try to work on the garage some. The wife mentioned it yesterday, so I may have no choice but to do it this weekend.
Well, that is all I have for this morning. Maybe tomorrow I will share the dinner experience I had with the old vets and any insights that brings.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
