What, no start-up costs?
When I mention the word Crypto-blogging to the skeptics, I kind of expect a disbelieving look, they almost take a step backward, as if I'm about to pull them into the dark underworld. I immediately become a mind-reader -
Oh no, not her as well! She's been caught out by one of those Crypto scams and stupidly invested her last few pennies!
Or they say
What's the catch?
Some immediately change the subject, so I just play their game - if you think I'm 'stoopid', just keep on doing so. I just feel very sad that they're not willing to explore new horizons and expand their worlds!
Others who are more open to new ideas want to know more, so I tell them of my experience of Hive.
I've only invested time by blogging; and not played the Cryptocurrency market.
Blogging on Hive has opened up my eyes to a whole new world, from foodies, travelling the world through the eyes of Hivers, and meeting people from all corners of the globe.
I had been blogging for three years and was in HODL mode, before drawing from my Hive wallet.
It was the most liberating feeling when I learned how to turn my Hive earnings into rands and cents, while the rest of the world stood still during COVID lockdowns!
Yes, you will earn, but focus on blogging, interacting, and enjoying the new experience. Do not expect blogging on Hive to be an easy way of earning.
A love of writing, reading, and interacting is all you need, plus time of course! A precious commodity, which some have in abundance, others not; I fall under the latter category as I'm still running my Lily's Cottage. I always try to make time for Hive, but sometimes real life gets in the way, as with all of us!
As with real life, one needs balance; I however find it difficult not to pop into Hive whenever I have time to spare; yes, I'll admit, I've become hooked on Hive!
Tips for new Hivers
How do I get started after joining?
These are tips I've shared with friends who are keen to join.
Intro Post
Before writing your intro post, get to know some of the people on Hive – read content that appeals to you, and interact. Use the hashtag - #introduceyourself.
Take pride in your writing
Do not be lazy;) Word count must be an absolute minimum of 250 words, do a spell-check, and do a little research – Google Lens is great for recognizing plant names, animals, any geographical features, and so forth.
Following Hivers
Do not blindly follow someone because they’ve commented on your posts. Read their blog and see if they write on topics that interest you, otherwise, your feed will be filled with irrelevant content. You can still interact!
Communities
It is vital to subscribe to Communities that share your interests. Read their rules and check their preferred hashtags. Naturally, you should not publish from a community before subscribing to it.
Hashtags
Use the correct hashtags, and also use the maximum hashtags (10 when publishing through peakd.com.) The first 5 tags should be the most relevant to your subject.
Contests, Challenges, & Prompts
Look out for these within communities – this is a nice way to get inspiration and meet the people of that community. You need to be subscribed to the community when responding to a challenge and remember to read the rules.
Discord
Join Community Servers on Discord using their invite links – a nice way to get to know the community, chat, and ask questions.
Lastly
Do not feel overwhelmed, take things slowly, and ask if you're unsure about anything. We have some wonderful people who are more than willing to help and guide you, plus you will find some useful posts written as guides!
In life, we never stop learning, and that is even more true here on Hive!
As you've gathered by now, we are a diverse community. You will meet people with similar interests and from all corners of the globe. Some will become good friends, you will meet kindred spirits, and one sure thing is you will have loads of fun and learn a ton!
