My journey of decluttering has taken me to places long forgotten - happy and sad, fun and very trying times as well.
Earn your Keep!
We finally tracked down the company that is the new custodian of our joint will, as the original company no longer exists. I've collated all the necessary estate documents, and my spreadsheet with account/ license numbers is done and dusted, so now they have to get on with it, and earn their keep!
Those Darned Paper Trails!
Remember the days of having paper trails? Well, my darling man was a stickler for record-keeping, so I've had to toss humungous files from years of engineering projects, carefully going through household accounting files, as there were some valuable documents inside. A ton of paperwork has gone for recycling.
When I get tired of files, files, and more files, I move into the nether depths of cupboards and drawers, in dusty hidden corners, and discover a good couple of preloved treasures that I certainly am not selling on my Hive Thrifted Store, nor giving away to anyone!
Sentimental I am for sure, but not foolishly so!
The Quirky Cane ;)
I had a good chuckle when I came across this contraption which was hubby's, not mine of course; a gift from my brother. A walking stick for an avid rugby fan, complete with a bicycle bell to warn the crowd to make way for the one holding that stick, or else they'd better beware! There's a flashlight to find your way in the dark, or blind the opposing fans when their team scores :)
A stainless steel whiskey hip flask sits a little lower down as there's just enough to calm the nerves when the going gets tough, can't share that, even with your best friend, not so!
The most ingenious part is the handy funnel that goes into a long flexible tube - a guy can't afford a trip to the loo as you may just miss your team scoring a rugby try, or a football goal, or even a big six at a cricket match! The rugby ball at the top is just to show what your favourite game is. Except hubby was an avid football fan, a die-hard Liverpool fan at that!
Quite a versatile little stick this is.
The walking stick now takes pride of place in a visible corner in the living room, right by the door, ready and waiting for someone to use it again.
However, the one who once held it with a naughty glint in his eye, and have loads of fun with it, is no longer among us.
