Howdy, I just subscribed to Silver Bloggers and I thought I'd write a post right off the top of my head. What made me decide to do such a thing was a couple of things I read in the Silver Bloggers description.
The first of those things being "a keenness to learn more about blockchain and crypto – we’re not digital natives – most of us were born before the PC was imagined; we ask “stoopid” questions".
When I was in the Air Force, I was a computer operator, so I do not have a problem with a PC, but things after that confuse me so much at times. Cell phones were alright when they were just cell phones. When they also became cameras, I could live with that. But using them as a computer just blows my mind. Now I understand they have computers on watches. It is just so different from using a main frame or a personal computer and the technology just went too fast for me. In my computer room I am in a bad WIFI area. A signal is rare unless I get up and go outside by the front gate. Plus, the print on the phones is so small. If I don't have my glasses on, I can't read it. Even then I sometimes have to enlarge the print (if the phone is capable of this feat) to see (I did figure out how to do that on a phone computer).
It takes me about a half hour to do something on a phone computer that I can on my pc in about 10 minutes. My computer has a hard-wired internet connection, so I don't have to worry about that WIFI connection.
When something goes wrong using the phone, I usually don't know what to do. On a pc I have a good idea of what needs to be done to fix any problems. For things like that I no longer have the patience to try to figure out. As long as I can continue to use my pc, that will be my main source of computer use.
The other thing in the description that intrigued me was "a compulsion to share our life experiences for storage on the blockchain for our children and children’s children".
When I started in this blockchain stuff I never thought about this. It is good that we can leave such good records for our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren (all of which I currently have) and future generations after that. I mean as long as the blockchain doesn't totally crash (knock on wood) then all those generations will be able to see us, know how we thought and maybe even listen to us.
That gives me an idea to post some of the older generation relatives in a post. A lot of those relatives even I never met. Somehow put them in an order ... we'll see on that later.
Since I live in the Philippines and my son, grandsons, great grandson and great granddaughter live in the US, I don't get to see them much. In fact, I have never seen the great grand kids in person ever. It makes me wonder that if they had the technology back then as we have it now, then I'd now all those old relatives. If I never get to see my great grandchildren, then I can at least leave them some kind of information about me. Hopefully they will know something about me.
Anyway, that's my rave for now. I look forward to writing and reading interesting stories in here. I don't travel much, because I can't really afford to at the moment, but when I do, I will be sure to try to remember to post some pictures and words in here.
Both pictures in this post are mine. A picture of myself and my wife of 43+ years. The first picture was a couple of years before we moved to the Philippines. The second picture is a couple of years after moving here.
