I have a very sweet memory of driving my own car on the very first time.

Driving a car is a dream for many at young age, and I was no exception, some people manage to learn driving on their own fearlessly, but the fear of hitting someone forced me to go to a driving school, as their training vehicles have extra control on the other seat, with the trainer taking action, when we err. Usually they provide a fifteen day crash course, but I did not feel very confident so I paid them again and took the training second time in which I tried to fine tune my skill.

I always wondered how the driver can see the immediate front of the vehicle, what happens, if we miss noticing something in the front but after I learned myself, I realized that, it's like our brain processing the visuals from far, and knows what's in front by the time we reach that spot. Did you ever have this feelings ? I guess whoever tries to learn has this question first.

And the most difficult task in learning, is to drive backwards - that felt like a herculean task to me. So when I bought my car, before taking delivery, I asked the trainer to at least make me familiar to drive backwards to our parking spot.

And now comes the most fun part - I was a bit nervous inside, while taking the delivery of my car, so I took one of my friend with me. Still after sitting on the wheel, I felt so nervous that I called the lady and asked her - Can I really take this car to home ? And her answer was - "You certainly can, I know you.."

That confidence is the biggest factor in not only driving but also in life - once you start with that confidence, you clear most of the hurdles. But wait, we had a twist - an over-bridge came on our way and there were lot of vehicles, as a result of which, we got stuck at an inclined spot. Even after repeated attempts , I could not manage to control the break and release the clutch and take the car forward from that spot, as the car was going back as soon as I would release the clutch.

After trying for more than ten minutes, my friend advised to stop doing that, and instead went out to find a stone to keep before the wheel. But hey, where do you find a stone on the over-bridge ? Ok, fair, you wait here, I will walk till the end and come back with a stone....That's why it's told a friend in need is a friend indeed...He literally walked half a kilometer to the end of that bridge, and finally came back with a stone......and we were able to drive forward from that stop. This is such a sweet and fun memory of driving my car for the first time and our friendship - even though, we do not meet often, we seek each other's presence when needed, you have seen my friend earlier in this post.

And since that very first day, by God's grace, I have managed to drive my car comfortably, without any accident. The car has become an emotion, staying so long with us - at times our daughter says, the car is elder to her....It's not that we can't buy a new car, that emotion holds us back to go for a new one, because there is no absolute necessity as well. The photograph in this post is not my car though, during one of our visit, I liked this old ambassador car parked on road, so much that I could not resist taking a photo. You have certainly seen my car in my previous posts, but if not, then I would share another fun event with my car that happened recently....
