Don't Worry, Be Fluffy!

Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is a world famous comedian who was last in Adelaide 5 years ago. I wrote about it here back then as well.
Last Friday night was Fluffy's final performance in Australia for his 10 day Don't Worry Be Fluffy! tour and it was held in Adelaide.
I had made sure that I wasn't working that day so that when my friends came to pick me up, I'd be home ready and relaxed.
We agreed to meet another friend at Vili's, a popular 24 hour bakery that has two main locations.
This was the one in Blair Athol.
Everyone else ordered some form of meat pie while I ordered the spaghetti bolognese. There was some snide comment about this by one of my friends because he didn't think it was right.
The show started at 8pm, but Fluffy didn't start until about 9:06pm. Before then there was a warm up act that went for 30 minutes His name was Matt Golightly.
He was really funny and I wish I could repeat some of the stuff he said about vodka and tampons...
Then there was a 20 minute break and then he came back and told some more jokes and then Fluffy stepped up on stage and then he began to weave his comedy magic.
He told stories about learning about Australian slang and various cultural differences. There was the occasional heckler but nothing insulting. We'd agreed collectively not to heckle or photograph during the performance with the idea that they were recording that night.
One heckle was after Fluffy had asked if there was anyone there who didn't know who he was and in the split second silence a baby cried out. This lead to a series of related jokes.
Another heckle was when Fluffy started telling a joke about Filet Of Fish. Someone up the front said "Eww!" And quick as a flash, Fluffy said "Don't eww Filet Of Fish. I love Filet Of Fish. You don't hear me disparaging Vegemite and I really have a right too. Believe me!" Everyone laughed.
Footage from Adelaide performances rarely end up in specials, but the idea of the possibility of it being included is a nice one. We'll see.
Fluffy is definitely a comedian to look out for if you hadn't heard of him.
The Adelaide Entertainment Centre was set up so that half of the arena was dedicated to the audience and the other half was for the stage and backstage areas. The audience half was sold out and filled to capacity.
The was standing room only at the restrooms, the beer taps ran dry and the merch booth did a roaring trade. The shirts were like $80 each. There were hoodies and autographed Funko pops available but I didn't see how much they were.
On the way home, one of our friends had to walk both down and up 3 flights of steps with a sore knee because the carpark elevator was so packed it was skipping floors both up and down. It even had a weight limit light come on!
It wasn't the weight of individuals, but as a collective number that was causing issues.
Then while in the car waiting to come home, there was a car accident on the street at the ground level which meant we had to wait about another 15 minutes.
Eventually the cars started moving and we could go home again.
It was a fantastic night. I can't believe it's been a nearly week already!
Check out tour dates for Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias for when he's in your area next.
Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
