In my hometown, the rainy season is coming. Different from other cities, Hue (my city) is very famous for rain since it can rain all day and rain consecutively within a month. Rain in Hue city always makes most people get sad and nostalgic. Maybe it is the reason why inhabitants here are usually nostalgic people. And I must admit that I am the same one.
Today remind me of the period when I was in high school when I was very young - 17 years old. To be honest, I was not impressed much about life in high school, which was quite boring to me because I was a bookworm so I did not have a lot of friends. But one thing happened and changed my life!
My former high school
A picture that I took very long time ago
In the last months of high school, I met a crew of friends who changed my boring status! I was in B10 class and they were in B1. It meant that we did not have many chances to play with others even I did not know them before. As I remember, I met them in the schoolyard. You can imagine how boring I was that I seldom entered out of my class in the break until the last day of high school. But that day seemed like an arrangement! My friend took me to go out and sit on the stone bench near our class. Suddenly some boys came and stood near us and played shuttlecock. My classmate told me to join them for relaxing. I did not know why I said yes because I was extremely reserved, which made others feel irritated. Actually, it was the first time in 3 years, I found it interesting to have playful friends. We played together with beautiful joys. After some days, my new friends (almost boys) invited us to join in a game with them. It was surprisingly exciting. I am sure that you can't guess what! They called that TENNIS BALL GAME.
But they did not use rackets to play. THEY USE THEIR BARE FEET!! Oh my god. They played with tennis balls like the way they play football. At first, I could not understand all that they said because it was over my imagination. You know a tennis ball is really smaller than a normal ball. That is unbelievable that we can shoot or control such a tiny ball.
A typical match - The only photo that I had.
I would like to show you how to play TENNIS BALL.
- You divide people into 2 groups like a football match. Each team will nominate a member as a goalkeeper who is allowed to use their feet to protect the goal. And the special feature is that the goal must be not too wide, just twice as wide as a human body.
- We usually have 5 or 6 people in a team because the playground of our high school was not spacious enough to contain a lot of people.
- All players are allowed to use feet to play but not hands. We did not have a referee or a coach because we could not afford it, haha just kidding ^^). We don't need them because we are referees and coaches ourselves.
- We play the same rule as football matches so penalties, corner kick, penalties shootout (a draw happens). Actually, we don't apply yellow cards or red cards. Instead, we prefer the penalties.
- A match lasts about 60 minutes and is separated into 2 parts. As students, we did not have any trophy but it was interesting that the loser would treat the winner to a good meal after the match. It was all reward we had.
We had a very memorable time. We called each other in the early morning before school time to play a short match. Every night, I was looking forward to a new day beginning to meet them, to play with them as a child. You know that in school time, I was a boring girl who only focused on learning. But I was changed very differently. I and my classmate Châu even did skip our lessons to take part in amazing plays with our new friends. It was another ME, who always desire funny and fantastic moments.
The older I become, the More I miss them, miss those innocent moments. I LOVE MY FRIENDS. Due to their mischief, I had very nice memories at school. They colored my plain life! We still kept playing Tennis Ball until we graduated university. After that, the busy life pulled us into the stream of work. We haven't met each other frequently. However, I know that all of us still remember that energetic period as an invaluable gift in our life.
