Another round of harvesting the herb garden and filling up the pantry jars.
First up, was picking the tops of the green onions and getting them cut up and into the freezer.
The tray went into the freezer for a day before bagging the green onions up, except....
When my husband opened up the freezer door the entire tray slid out and onto the floor. He felt so bad, but sometimes mishaps happen, not like I'm running out anytime soon. lol
Before it got too hot to sit on the porch, I picked all the dill that self-seeded near the potatoes. Once all that was stripped from the stems, I put it on a tray in the greenhouse to dry.
I have a large patch of Lemon Balm in the Lilac Garden that was going into flower. It was time to harvest a ton of that as well. I got that all stripped down and laid it all out onto large screens in the greenhouse to dry along with the dill.
After a few days in the heat, it was time to put it into Mason jars. One of these days, I will take the time to organize all the dried herbs and take a photo afterwards.
This is the second time harvesting the Parsley and the Genovese Basil. I have enough dried in the pantry, so I decided to freeze some of it in water to add to recipes.
After, rinsing the leaves and spin-drying them, I blended all of it up with a little amount of water.
These silicone molds for candy making work perfectly for freezing single pucks to add to my recipes. I do the same thing with a lot of my garlic after it is harvested.
The Borage plants needed thinning out this week, so I dried some of the leaves and flowers too. Also, I made a tincture with some of it for my husband. He tends to have upper respiratory issues from time to time and the tincture always helps.
That was enough work for one day, so yep, it was porch time with Mika. The best part of my day is spending it out on the porch with my best girl.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, stay cool and happy harvesting.
