Hi Ho Silvers and hello hello young Hivians
Friday is here and the first full week of July is getting read to jolly well race out of sight.
It has been almost three weeks since we came back from holiday and I should be back into the groove by now. Well I am getting there, I am not far away from being able to publish at least one post per day on Hive between my two main accounts.
Almost but not quite.
Yesterday I had intended to write and publish a post for the latest #silverprompt.
Yes, that's right I said silverprompt from Silver Bloggers. Read about it Silver Prompt - New Theme for Saturday July, 8 if you are unfamiliar ...
The Silver Prompt for this week is : I want to ...
Tell us about something you always wanted to do when you were young but never managed to do it. At least not yet.
That got me thinking about the first #bom from Silver Bloggers and the first writing prompt that I entered in January of 2022 which was pretty much when I started to use Hive in earnest.
Bucket List 2022 goals my Life Goals List
It's a no-brainer I will just review that post and take the pertinent things from there!
Job done...
Well no such fluffing luck!
You make your own luck Edward!
Aye right mither!
Our AirBnB host in Orkney at times reminded me of my mother, as we were staying in the house I lived in as a teenager it was funny and Mrs T was having a blast. Imagine an American woman imitating an Orcadian who was imitating a Dundonian. I blame the red wine they were both drinking, as Mrs T had found a kindred spirit in finding someone else wanting to tease me! Me of all people 🤣
Back to the past
So... I read (and smiled whilst I did so) my Life Goals List for 2022 and was happy to see that
- I don't want to kick the bucket in 2022
and - I want to stay upbeat and positive in 2022
I managed both those things, and there was nothing really useful in that post that I could pinch and use in this post.
Although I read about my canal narrowboat goal again ...
And yes @coquicoin I read about my writing Archie goal too!
But for the now it is a case of Back to the drawing board!
When I was young I wanted to:
- Beat my father playing squash ✔️
We played a game of squash at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh. I was 12 and it was the first and only time I beat him at squash. He hung up his racquet! Not only that but six weeks later we moved from Edinburgh to the Orkney Islands ... Coincidence 🤔 I wonder ... - Compete for my country ✔️
This was when I was in primary school I wanted to do this. I was extremely sporty, and sports dominated school. I peaked when I was 13 (looking back that was when my arthritis kicked in) and rugby was my sport. I played scrum half for Scottish schoolboys versus England schoolboys. The game was in Edinburgh and we won! - Visit the jungle (in Africa) ✔️
I worked in West Africa and indeed even got lost in the jungle once in a camping weekend. I met many animals and have never been so exhilarated and scared at the same time! Who needs a guided safari when you can do it yourself! - Meet Her Majesty The Queen ✔️
I have written about this and I have the scar still visible on top of the thumb on my left hand, where I sliced some skin of it just before I shook her hand. This happened in primary 6(N) at school. What an amazing lady and I was gutted on September 8th when she passed away.

Those were only four of the many things that I thought of that I wanted to do when I was younger.
I could not actually remember any that I wanted to do that I haven't done yet..
Well fluff it!
This was all mulling around in my head yesterday and what did I do?
Yes if you guessed it, I did fluff all...
... but then I reread the prompt and Eureka!
Or/ and tell us about a
badhabit you have but want to change.
Ask Mrs T what she thinks of my habits and she will say that I am a pedant, in other words I can be very very pedantic. Some things wind me up... A lackadaisical attitude when it comes to figures facts and grammar.
I cannot abide the half-arsed approach that I see in so many things in life.
People don't take the time to read their work, they just publish it, uff enough said...
So I have a tendency on Hive not to hit the publish button if I am not happy with something.
For example, I could and probably should have just posted this post yesterday. But oh no, I wasn't sure about it. In fact, I did not even put pen to paper! What I have written now, was pretty much running through my head yesterday ...
So this begs the question ... ???
Q Why did I not write this yesterday?
A Because I am a fluffing numpty!
When I was doing my Masters in Knowledge Management, I choose the Pareto Principle as my thesis.
Now you may be thinking that Tengo has lost it, has opened the door into the Land of Forgetfulness and wandered off to make a coffee...
Well a coffee I did make, but I had not forgotten what we were talking about.
There is indeed method in my madness.
So what the fluff has Pareto go to do with this post?
In fact rewind ...
What the fluff is Pareto, or who is he?
Do~ah you~ah know~ah Pareto? I ask in my best Italian accent???
Wilfried Fritz Pareto was born on the 15th of July 1848. He did a whole bunch of things but will be remembered for this ...
The Pareto principle states that for many outcomes, roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes. In other words, a small percentage of causes have an outsized effect. This concept is important to understand because it can help you identify which initiatives to prioritize so you can make the most impact.
source
It is also known as the 80/20 rule for obvious reasons or Pareto's Law.
I mentioned being a pedant! So unless in my head something is 100% then fluff it, it is not ready and will not be published, in fact it will just sit in my drafts, if we take Hive as an example.
It is not a detailed cost estimate to build a £100 million ship for example, it is a fluffing post, my post I hasten to add, on a blockchain.
My habit I need to alter with respect to Hive, is to learn to let something go even if I think it is not 100%.
As per Pareto 80% will do, in reality there will be no more rewards or traction gained if I wait until it is 100% in my head...
That being said .... I want to alter that pedantic habit and so ....
I am away to hit the publish button right now!!!
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day
