Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. — Lao Tzu
Hello Hello Silvers and fellow bees of the Hive
Our Sunday started off with bright sunshine so I was down at the supermarket quick as a flash at 8.10am ten minutes after they opened to get some fresh bread and ham.
Job sorted, the sun was still out and shining bright, albeit rather chilly but not totally unexpected for this time of the year in the UK.
I grabbed my new camera and headed off on the short walk to the park and a spot of playtime.
As I always take animal food with me when going to the park, first stop was the boating swan pond. Since Covid the body of water that was a boat lake has been taken over by our feather friends and in particular Stevie and Susie Swan the resident pair of mute swans.
In front of me was a solitary Greylag goose.
Fun Fact about the Greylag Goose - it is the ancestor of most domestic geese!
This is unusual as rarely are geese seen on this particular body of water as it is 'Owned' by Susie and Stevie Swan. I have seen them go into defend/attack mode and get rid of a gaggle of geese that had the temerity to land on this body of water last year!
There they are giveing each other the hairy eyeball! Are these feet good enough for you @coquicoin 🤣👣
I let them be and carried on with my walk, and perhaps I interrupted this wee squirrel trying to take a 💩
Then time to park my butt on a bench, eat my breakfast and see whether I could see any of the smaller birds that I really bought the camera for. The ducks and swans are generally friendly enough with me now that I can close enough with my smartphone to get good enough pictures, but the wee ones are timid.
If you look closely at whitest tree in the middle there were actually two wee birds on the branches. Impossible to capture with a smartphone camera, but hey presto I had my new toy!
One was practising gymnastics and was upside down.
They are Eurasian blue tits and I know they eat the seeds I put down for them when I am gone.
To say I was chuffed was an understatement😃
I then got a wee bit artsy with some shots and of course just had to snap the daffodils in the distance
Just as I was leaving, Maggie appeared!
A slight shift of my position and a push of a button and then this happened...
And that shows the reason I bought my new camera.
We have lots of Eurasian Magpies in the park, but they are as skittish as the tits and nigh on impossible to capture good pictures of them with a smartphone camera.
What do you think mentor Zac @papilloncharity did I pass my first wee pratice test at wildlife photography with our Canon Powershot SX70HS Bridge Camera?
It was a fantastic Sunday and thanks to #BeautifulSunday by @ace108 and #SublimeSunday by @c0ff33a for having somewhere to sharing this.
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman @TengoLoTodo unless otherwise stated.
