That he did! You're the second person to mention that there may be others living under the house, I thought the same thing so this is what I did. Before I filled in the hole I spread a bag of flour in and around the hole figuring that if there were others they would leave tracks in the flour. After 3 days I saw no activity and then I stuffed the hole with gravel and sand.
