Yes, yes, I know. It feels like I'm gonna come at you with that old cliché,
"I WAS TOO BUSY."
Damn, I can't believe its been a year. Shocking!
To be honest, its been a combination of factors that left me on the sidelines, just popping in to throw a few measly votes around.
If I had to list the main contributors, it's likely a combination of fear, a new job, a new sideline and just some general personal BS.
I'll get into some of the above in a bit, but first off, it feels great to actually just write again 😀 and hopefully I'll get some old connections (perhaps some new one's too) to say, "Hi," and tell me how you're doing 🙂
My side has been quite the Rollercoaster, but I'll get more into that in another post.
Getting back to the main contributors that kept me away I present to you as follows:
"Dun, dun, dun!"
In 1st place is the one I didn't mention before.
Me! It was all just me.
Yes, I have been frikkin busy, but there's always time available and managing that better would have made a difference. Anyway, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. That's just a senseless exercise, which kind of flows into 2nd place.
Fear!
This thing has tentacles that sticks like glue, and lots of them. As mentioned, beating myself up over not writing, leads to more, yep, not writing.
So instead of being more focused on what I can do, I've been focusing on what I can't. For some reason that's still beyond my understanding, I haven't been able to finish my story, Freddy The Flea. It should literally just be a few more chapters. Perhaps that's another tentacle clawing at me and holding me back. I must be honest though and kinda got stuck there towards the end too. So, let's see how I can tackle that beast... uhh, Flea, as opposed to hiding from it.
With the above being said, I could have been more engaging with comments and some general posts. It's time to pull myself free from 'The Obscene Tentacles of Fear'. Hmmm, perhaps another fictional story there, haha. First things first though, focus on the rest.
In 3rd place was a new job.
I had to put a ton of focus in here, as we were financially screwed and I had to make sure it worked 100%. Still, there is always extra time. Which brings me to number 4.
4th place, the new side hustle.
This is a passion of mine, so it feels less like a chore, but has its drawbacks. As with any new venture, you have bumps, sometimes truckin mountains in the way. Things break, you patch, fix and then another, dang truckin mountain. With that being said, we've created the best pizza! Yep, you heard that right, PIZZA! You can ask anyone who's tried it, they are dang good. More on that later.
Disclosure: I started writing this more than a month ago. Now, Mount Everest is here. Let's hope I make it 🙃
