When a lady sends me a π emoji, I wish there was 'A guide to modern texting for dinosaurs'!
Seeing this owlet winking at me, sitting in a storm drain, triggered this basic question above...

Owlet winking My own click
It was funny as hell to be winked at by an owlet. It had a very serious expression on it's face. So, it definitely was not one of the sly flirty winks! Probably it was an expression like "what are you doing here human - disturbing my Zen and peace".
We will never know. The owlet winked couple of time as I pressed the shutter release on my camera in a machine gun like series of clicks. Then it calmly withdrew further into the storm drain .. in kind of slow motion reverse gear...
It was weird but did not bother me. However, when gals I know send me texts like "Good night ππ", I swear to God, it bothers me!
What does this lady mean ? Is she flirting with me? Is she implying that I should be doing something other than sleeping ? Should I ask my wife what this lady means?
Aaaarggggghhhhhh!
Sleep disappears in such circumstances. I sit there with my phone in hand, trying to decide what should my response be!
Can you believe it? I even googled 'what does a wink mean from a woman' ππ
I felt so goofy when I did that but to my surprise, I found thousands of results and many of those links had millions of views!
God! What is this world coming to. Looks like there is a vast majority of humans out there who are either nerds who have never interacted with girls or dinosaurs like me who have never TEXTED much with ladies !!
In any case, you will be amazed to find that I even found advice on how to respond to a Wink emoji from a gal! There is literally a Wikihow on 'Top Emojis a girl will use if she likes you!'

This is how you respond to wink emojis from gals

The article advised, and I quote..
Sheβs sending you a flirty vibe. A standard winking face with one closed eye and a smile tends to be flirtier than the funny winking face with its tongue out (π). A winking face that has a stuck-out tongue could signal sheβs just being silly. Respond by keeping the conversation light and playful.[1]
Send a meme or continue teasing her or joking with her.
For a flirty response, reply with a text that says, βπ Stop distracting me! Iβm busy.β[2]
You could also send something like, βπβ to play it cool or βπβ to be a little sassy.

OMG! I thought I had found the perfect answer and almost typed it in and then a doubt hit me...
DOUBT - This lady who sent me the message is also 50+ years young like me. What if she can't see the screen so well and sent me a Wink emoji instead of a friendly smile emoji by mistake?
That was a big monkey wrench in the flirty machinery! What if I misinterpret an innocent message to be flirty one and send something flirty back..
The lady (and later my good lady too after the said lady blabs to my good lady about my inappropriate response) will both scream ...

Huh - What did you mean you pervert ???
My own click
My palm became sweaty just imagining the aftermath of such a mis-communication. "I have survived 30+ years of marriage and do not need to start getting into issues at this stage" said the Angel in me. "Oh come on. Be a MAN. What's wrong in some harmless flirting" said the devil in me!

'To Flirt or Not to flirt that is the question'

I am still in a dilemma. Years of safe living with my good lady has ingrained an instinct for gentlemanly behavior in my psyche so I think that will win....
However, the worry about having to face the lady who winked ('textually') at me eats me up to. How do I live up to my Macho image if I didn't even respond to a harmless flirty wink!
I think I will chuck my cell phone in the lake and pretend I never saw the text...

No more Texting and Emojis!

Call me a coward or an escapist if you will but that, at the moment, seems to be a safe response!
If you have some Silvery wisdom to share on the topic, please comment and let me know how you think I should handle the winks and PLEASE PLEASE don't wink when you respond! π
Cheers - have a great day!
