My Little Feathered Friend has a Little Feathered Friend.

Hello everyone and welcome to another Feathered Friends post.
Today I'm doing a little update on the Ruby Throated Humming Bird that lives in my Apple tree.
Originally named Carla in a cute little story by @littlebee4 and later changed to Carlos, cuz he's a dude.

Well Carlos here hung in the Apple tree all winter long insted of migrating with most of the others to warmer climate.
I was reading up on these Hummingbirds and reserchers have noticed the males are starting to overwinter in the breeding areas insted of migrating in the more temperate climates in order to get a jump on preferred tertitory and first crack at breeding.
Ahhhh Haaaa !

So without further ado meet the reason Carlos stuck it out all winter in that Apple tree through cold,rain and even got snowed on in early spring.
Everyone Say Hello to Carlos's Little Feathered Friend... Carla =)

Carla here is a Female Ruby Throated Hummingbird and she rolled in about a week or two after the spring snow.
I first noticed this brave little Hummingbird sipping from Carlos's feeder and was thinking, Hmm brave litte thing, better hope Carlos isn't around.

I started noticing this one hanging around often and not getting scolded by the Grand Poobah and run off so I started capturing images.

One day I noticed Carla not only sippng fromm Carlos's feeder but flying up and perching in the APPLE TREE.
Not only was Carlos there but was perched a few feet away.... not being a dick... like usual.

SO I began to wounder.
I ran the images through a search and ??? you guessed it it's a Female Ruby Throated Hummingbird.

The last couple of weeks Carla has been gulping from that feeder sometimes as often as a couple times every five minutes and flying back up into the Apple tree !?!?

I think Carlos is a Father. <,<

The Female is way more muted in color than the Male and the only red on her is the little spot at the base of her throat.
Her back is emerald green but doesn't flash as brightly as the male.Her undersides arw creamy white and light browns.

Below I got a shot of her looking at the camera , probably woundering what that clacking sound is(shutter noise).
You can see the dark patches at the base of the throat, these will flash bright red in the sunlight

Not sure why she's lookin at me like that O.o
