Remember the Baby Chickadee I met last week? Well, I may have an update.
While out on a walk I heard chickadees in the trees above my head. Thanks to the video I made of the baby chickadee's release, I was able to recognize one of the chirping sounds as the response call a fledgling chickadee makes to her parents. I looked up into the trees and saw this fluffy little one above me.
The fledgling looked back at me, curious and unafraid. Was this the same fledgling?
The parents were nearby, calling out while they collected food for the baby.
I can't say for certain that this fledgling is the same bird I met, but being only a block away from our previous encounter, it is quite possible. If it is her, she can fly, now. She was flitting from branch to branch above my head, chirping merrily.
These shots aren't very crisp, I admit, but this meeting tooke me by surprise, and my camera settings were not prepared. I had to do a lot of editing afterwards for underexposure. But fuzzy or not, I am happy to say that I was able to capture this picture of her being fed on a branch high above me.
In retrospect, I realize I was pretty lucky I didn't get pooped on when I took this.
Anyhow, I am glad I was able to share that our little friend (if it is her) is doing well.
