When the waterlevel is low it can be a very exciting time at the danube river shores since several birds are looking for something too eat there. Gulls use the winds to fly and search the more shallow water for fish, other birds like the little ringed plover enjoy the new hunting grounds for insects and all this is controlled by the amount of water flowing down the danube. Especially on the spot where I take a lot of pictures right underneath the Water Power Plant. The biggest impact in the water level is made by the locks of the water power plant. And whenever there is only few water on the lower end of the water power Plant there is a paradise for birds that look for food in the sand, the gravel or even birds that live of fish.
The best time for me as a bird and wildlifephotographer is when the level of the water is low and a lot of tiny waders are looking for insects in the mudd, or when birds like the seagulls have an easier "hunting ground" due to the lower water level.
