Finally some pictures of the Black-necked grebe

This weekend I did two photography trips, one to the Inn River in Upper Austria and one to Vienna for some urban wildlife photography and both trips were pretty successful again. I am very grateful that I live in a region where I can find several different and interesting species within a two hour car drive from my homeplace. This Black-necked grebe was swimming on the Inn River and it came pretty close to us, so I could take some nice closeup pictures of it. I also took several videos this day but when taking pictures of this bird, I absolutely forgot to change to video mode. Because I took some videos of the Ural Owl and the Curlews this weekend I am a little disappointed that I often don't even think of taking videos of such beautiful creatures. But still Photography is my main reason for the trips so I am not that dissapointed that I forgot to take a video.

I think the red eye of the bird makes it really interesting and this is also the reason why I took so many pictures of it. It was minding its own business and was diving several times right in front of us before it left and followed the stream of the river. I am very grateful for this opportunity. Since the spring is already approaching I hope I can get some nice beautiful bird pictures in the next months as more and more birds arrive from the south.
