Goosander landing, hunting and swimming in front of me

Last weekend I was on a photography trip at a lake near Linz to take some pictures of birds that can be found there. There where a lot of ducks a family of Swans and this Goosander that landed and started right in front of us. Initially I wanted to take some pitures of the Great crested grebe that can also be found at this lake but since the Grebe didn't came close enough and the Goosander was showing some action right in front of me I was only able to take some pictures of this bird, but I can be happy with the results.

There were also some ducks but they are to common to me to take some pictures. Only if the light is especially good or when the ducks keep doing something intereesting like fighting or mating I take pictures of them, but "normal" situations are way to less interesting for me when watching ducks. And by the way the Goosander showed some action that was way more interesting to document. I was watching it hunting and landing and starting from the water.

I had luck that the bird was so close to the shore since during the weekend a lot of people are walking around the lake and sometimes even with their dogs and this is the reason why these birds often keep a little more distance to the lakeshore. But I was lucky. Despite the Goosander and the ducks there was not much action on the lake and even though I waited the whole afternoon.
