This weekend I was able to take some pictures of the reeves pheasant, it was the first time I saw this bird here in Austria nd it is a very seldom bird since it usually lives in china but was brought to the United States, Czech Republic, France and the United Kingdom. In the latter three countries, they have built up small breeding populations, and are still released on a small scale for shooting, often alongside common pheasants. This bird is probably from the Czech population that fled here to Austria. But for me it is a new bird on my list of birds I saw and took a picture of. My number of different species I saw increased to 115 now. I still need a lot of different species to be able to apply for the popular Club 300. A club of poeple who saw at least 300 different bird species. But you need to travel a lot to be able to see so many species.
Sometimes of course there is also a portion of luck and some very seldom birds get lost here in Austria and then you really need to network with other photographers and get in touch with them to find out more about some seldom birds visiting and staying for only a few days before they migrate further.
