This year I was lucky. I managed to see a marsh hen in the water lily thickets not far from the city beach. Unfortunately, she was alone, without chicks. She wandered alone on the water lily leaves. I wanted to get closer to her.
The place was open and there were construction workers working on the opposite bank and I hoped that she would not pay attention to me.
But nothing of the sort. As soon as I came closer to her, she ran away from me to the opposite bank.
Having run away further, she plopped into the water and began to swim looking for food.
Of course it's a pity that I didn't manage to get closer to her. Chickens appear in this place very rarely. It's just great luck to see her here.
Without even knowing how she appeared here in a rather crowded place. Usually, marsh hens strive for solitude.
