Es mi primera vez publicando en esta comunidad, y además, mi primera vez publicando en más de una semana, y esto todo se mezcla, pero ¿cómo? No podía venir a compartir contenido con ustedes porque el servicio de internet que tenía, que es bastante popular en Venezuela, estuvo presentando fallas que aún no han solucionado. Para poder compartir de nuevo contenido y, sobre todo, poder tener acceso a internet que en la actualidad es de vital importancia, tuvimos que contratar un nuevo servicio de internet que, aunque es más costoso, ha valido totalmente la pena. Acompáñenme en esta publicación que sirve como reseña de mi nuevo servicio de internet.

It's my first time posting in this community, and also, my first time posting in more than a week, and this is all mixed up, but how? I could not come to share content with you because the internet service I had, which is quite popular in Venezuela, was presenting failures that have not been fixed yet. In order to be able to share new content and, above all, to be able to have access to the internet, which is of vital importance nowadays, we had to contract a new internet service which, although more expensive, has been totally worth it. Join me in this publication that serves as a review of my new internet service.
Lo primero que debo decir es que mi experiencia con CANTV ha sido tan compleja como agridulce. Empezando con que la línea de telefonía y la que nos daba el acceso a internet no era mía, era de una vecina y amiga mía que nos la prestó. Les cuento que tenemos cables de muchos metros de largo para poder conectar su modem con nuestro router, y de esa manera tener la señal de internet aquí en casa, claro, sin negarles a ellas el acceso. Luego, con el tiempo y por petición de mi vecina, se añadieron otros vecinos a la red. En ocasiones esto hacía que el internet se pusiera súper lento, fue entonces cuando cambiamos el plan a uno con mejor conexión a internet. Pero la verdad es, para los que conocemos a CANTV, que no importa que plan tengas, siempre la conexión será mala e inestable.
Muchas veces tenía que ir a casa de mi vecina, incluso llegué a ser una molestia para ella, con tal de recuperar la conexión a internet. Iba a revisar que todo en el modem estuviera bien y que la falla fuera algo a nivel general o era por algún cable flojo.
The first thing I must say is that my experience with CANTV has been as complex as it has been bittersweet. Starting with the fact that the telephone line and the one that gave us internet access was not mine, it belonged to a neighbor and friend of mine who lent it to us. I tell them that we have cables of many meters long to be able to connect their modem with our router, and in that way have the internet signal here at home, of course, without denying them access. Then, over time and at my neighbor's request, other neighbors were added to the network. Sometimes this caused the internet to get super slow, that's when we changed the plan to one with a better internet connection. But the truth is, for those of us who know CANTV, no matter what plan you have, the connection will always be bad and unstable.
Many times I had to go to my neighbor's house; I even became a nuisance for her, in order to recover the internet connection. I would go to check that everything in the modem was fine and that the failure was something general or was due to a loose cable.

Todas esas fallas y los días que pasábamos sin internet los aguantábamos, por lo general eran máximo dos días. Pero, la semana pasada fue distinto. Era lunes, entre 8:30AM y 9:00AM, una falla ocurrió, pensé que podría ser en casa de mi vecina y fui a tratar de solucionarlo… nada pasó, el internet no llegó. Me traté de consolar a mí mismo y me conecté con el internet de una de mis vecinas, solo para darme cuenta que ella tampoco tenía conexión.
Fue entonces cuando empecé a preocuparme, pensé que sería una falla general de uno o dos días… nada más lejos de la realidad. Empezaron a pasar los días, martes y no había conexión, miércoles y ya había visto todas las películas descargadas DOS VECES. El jueves me di cuenta de lo malo que era no tener internet, de lo terrible que se sentía esa desconexión con el mundo virtual, con poder hacer mis preciados blogs y poder ver mi contenido favorito (cof, cof Reality Show cof, cof). No lo dudé y busqué las maneras, pero no estaba dispuesto a pasar un solo día más sin internet.
We put up with all those failures and the days we spent without internet, usually for a maximum of two days. But, last week was different. It was Monday, between 8:30AM and 9:00AM, a failure occurred, I thought it might be at my neighbor's house and I went to try to fix it... nothing happened, the internet didn't arrive. I tried to console myself and connected to one of my neighbor's internet, only to realize that she didn't have a connection either.
It was then when I started to worry, I thought it would be a general failure of one or two days... nothing further from the truth. The days started to go by, Tuesday and there was no connection, Wednesday and I had already watched all the downloaded movies TWICE. Thursday I realized how bad it was to not have internet, how terrible that disconnection felt with the virtual world, with being able to do my precious blogs and being able to watch my favorite content (cough, cough Reality Show cough, cough). I didn't hesitate and looked for ways, but I wasn't willing to go another day without internet.
Me puse a estudiar la posibilidad de contratar otro servicio, uno que no fuera tan inestable, tan ineficiente y que me diera tanto estrés como CANTV. Mi mamá me comentó que una amiga de ella tenía un buen internet, era súper rápido y pocas veces presentaba fallas, muy popular acá en Venezuela, el cual ha venido ganando fuerzas como servicio de internet. Inter se llama, y de inmediato fue un click para mí, no sé si fue la locura de no tener internet, pero estaba dispuesto a buscar dinero prestado con tal de pagar la instalación. Mi mamá me dijo que en el momento en que los contactaras, ellos vendrían, te harían la conexión y ya contarías con internet. No lo dudé, era más costoso, sí, pero necesitaba el internet, sin conexión estaba prácticamente de manos atadas.
Salimos a eso del medio día a buscar algún agente autorizado que quedara cerca, pero para nuestra mala fortuna, no vimos a ninguno, así que asumimos que no estaban por ser medio día, le daríamos otra oportunidad a eso de las tres o cuatro de la tarde. Casualmente mi papá salió al portón antes de volver a salir a buscar a alguien de inter y pasó una camioneta con el logo de la empresa, mi papá les hizo seña y los llamó y ellos le entregaron un papelito con sus datos, nos dio el precio de la instalación y nos dijo que si lo llamábamos de una vez vendrían de inmediato. Dicho como hecho, los llamamos y llegaron al minuto en su pequeña van, poniendo su característica escalera amarilla.
I started to study the possibility of contracting another service, one that was not so unstable, so inefficient and that gave me as much stress as CANTV. My mom told me that a friend of hers had a good internet, it was super fast and rarely presented failures, very popular here in Venezuela, which has been gaining strength as an internet service. It is called Inter, and immediately it was a click for me, I don't know if it was the madness of not having internet, but I was willing to borrow money to pay for the installation. My mom told me that the moment you contacted them, they would come, they would make the connection and you would have internet. I didn't hesitate, it was more expensive, yes, but I needed the internet, without a connection my hands were practically tied.
We went out around noon to look for an authorized agent nearby, but to our misfortune, we didn't see any, so we assumed they weren't there because it was noon, we would give them another chance around three or four in the afternoon. Coincidentally my dad went out to the gate before going back out to look for someone from inter and a van with the logo of the company passed by, my dad flagged them down and called them and they handed him a piece of paper with their information, gave us the price of the installation and told us that if we called them at once they would come right away. Said and done, we called them and they arrived in a minute in their little van, setting up their characteristic yellow ladder.

Empezó la instalación y a hacer el contrato, estaba tan emocionado como asustado, mis pensamientos eran «¿valdrá la pena pagar todo ese dinero? ¿y si al final estoy desperdiciando esto por impaciente y no esperar a CANTV?», me hallé a mí mismo silenciando esa terrible voz que me saboteaba y gritarle “VALDRÁ LA PENA”. Era un poco estresante escuchar al sonido del taladro a la par de tratar de calmar a mi pequeña cachorra que no dejaba de querer juguetear con los señores que estaban instalando el internet, e incluso mordiendo los cables.
Mientras tanto, mi papá luego de insistir, logró que incluyéramos en el plan de internet una conexión al cable de tv, él añoraba poder tener televisión por cable con muchos canales, a parte de sus servicios de streaming, extrañaba poder ver algunos canales de cable. Me dio risa verlo tan emocionado probando a ver como se veía la señal mientras lo iban instalando, tal cual como un niño chiquito.
I was as excited as I was scared, my thoughts were «will it be worth it to pay all that money? what if in the end I am wasting this by being impatient and not waiting for CANTV?», I found myself silencing that terrible voice that was sabotaging me and shouting "WILL IT BE WORTH IT". It was a bit stressful to listen to the sound of the drill while trying to calm my little puppy who kept wanting to play with the gentlemen who were installing the internet, and even chewing on the cables.
Meanwhile, my dad, after insisting, managed to get us to include a cable TV connection in the internet plan, he longed to have cable TV with many channels, apart from his streaming services, he missed being able to watch some cable channels. It made me laugh to see him so excited trying to see how the signal looked while they were installing it, just like a little kid.

Luego de un rato ya teníamos todo instalado. Eran varios pequeños aparatos al lado del router que ya tiene años con nosotros. Nos dijeron que nos conectáramos a ver si ya funcionaba y vaya que sí. Finalmente teníamos internet de vuelta, y vaya que ha sido una buena elección, porque miren cuantos días han pasado y el internet de CANTV no ha regresado y puede ser que dure por bastante tiempo, porque según escuché, una señora que trabaja allí dijo que la falla podría durar de una semana a seis meses, y Dios sabe que no hubiese podido aguantar seis largos meses sin internet.
Me hace feliz ver ese montón de pequeñas luces verdes funcionando, indicando que tenemos conexión a internet.
After a while we had everything installed. There were several small devices next to the router that has been with us for years. They told us to connect to see if it was working and sure enough, it was. Finally we had internet back, and boy has it been a good choice, because look how many days have passed and the CANTV internet has not returned and it may last for quite some time, because according to what I heard, a lady who works there said that the failure could last from one week to six months, and God knows I could not have endured six long months without internet.
It makes me happy to see that bunch of little green lights working, indicating that we have internet connection.

Con el pasar de los días, hemos podido ver que tal es la conexión a internet y es algo que no había experimentado antes, al menos no en casa. Con CANTV lo máximo que llegaba la velocidad de arranque de internet era a los 4Mbps, aunque los primeros meses la conexión regular era de 800Kbps, se podrán imaginar la pesadilla que era eso.
En la actualidad, el internet con inter por lo general tiene una velocidad de 30Mbps a 50Mbps, lo cual ha sido una completa maravilla. Es una conexión estable, desde el jueves no ha fallado ni se ha caído, bastante rápida y de alguna manera ha aumentado el alcance de mi wi-fi. Se los recomiendo al 100% porque usarlo ha sido una bendición y una maravilla. Si tienen en su bolsillo la posibilidad de contratar inter como su nuevo proveedor de internet, tienen mi palabra de que ha sido muy bueno. Aquí las fotos de las cajitas de los aparatos que instalaron porque las guardé, bien sea como recuerdo o porque soy acumulador de cosas que creo que podré usar más adelante.
As the days have gone by, we have been able to see how good the internet connection is and it is something I had not experienced before, at least not at home. With CANTV the maximum internet start up speed was 4Mbps, although the first months the regular connection was 800Kbps, you can imagine what a nightmare that was.
Nowadays, the internet with inter usually has a speed of 30Mbps to 50Mbps, which has been a complete marvel. It's a stable connection, since Thursday it hasn't failed or dropped, quite fast and has somehow increased the range of my wi-fi. I recommend it 100% because using it has been a blessing and a wonder. If you have in your pocket the possibility of hiring inter as your new internet provider, you have my word that it has been very good. Here are the pictures of the boxes of the devices they installed because I kept them, either as a souvenir or because I am a hoarder of things that I think I will be able to use later.
