In season one of Game of Thrones, there is a dialogue that was inspired by the relationship of Roman senators during Ancient Rome, which has everything to do with the mystical and romanticised death of Julius Caesar: Cersei Lannister, a fictional and recognisable character in the series, responds to ‘Little Finger’ with the following short but forceful sentence: ‘Power is Power, my dear...’. Keep this simple but inexorable assertion in mind for the entire length of this post. Twitter was one of the best ideas ever created within the very famous, but now very controversial, social networks...
At the beginning, it was an idealistic and idealistic example of information, freedom of expression and a full sense of community. If we currently love and respect the values of networks like ‘Reddit’, those of us who have seen how the new emperor of ‘X’ has transformed everything it once was, can't pass up a really detailed critique. I understand, that in the posts, even, in this fantastic @geekzone community, the generational question is important, not least that there are a lot of inconsistencies that I don't know if they have been adequately addressed.

This is not to say that I am an ‘innovator’ or an ‘enlightened’ one. All I am stating is an accumulation of ideas and expressions, which have already been passed on by human beings, and minds, far more brilliant and talented than myself. That said, if you do a little mental exercise, I'm pretty sure you'll remember that for more years than we care to point out, Twitter was a simple but powerful place. You'd write a tweet about something and your community (or not) would interact. It was the ideal place to be informed, making multiple contrasts across multiple accounts.
Not least, it was never perfect. And from my point of view, that characteristic is what made it so beautiful. Because nothing in nature nor in our reality is perfect... That is also the reason why it was left in an extremely vulnerable position. It could never find a way to make Twitter really juicy to generate profit... And let's not forget, in our globalised, capitalist and highly exposed world... Brimming with brilliant minds behind the servers, but with little or no effective marketing or money-making campaign to make it sustainable.
That simple but telling fact about Twitter policy is what connects everything to Mr. Musk..... Yes, ‘Elon, the Liberator’. And I'm NOT saying it, but he has called himself that. We enter then, in the absolutist era of this famous and influential social network... During the second decade of the 2000's, Twitter was a place linked with revolts to remove tyrants from power, to publicly denounce abusers and white-collar criminals and third-world politicians, it was also a place for debate and appropriate feedback. Of that fact, only a hazy memory remains, unfortunately.

Now I won't say it's all a complete mess, but what I do contend is that Musk's stewardship, and how he came to own Twitter, is dictatorial to say the least - legal? But regrettable. And that's my position... And (also) the reason for this post. In our age, where all institutions, governments and billionaires are everywhere, making us long for their lives and their possessions, that Elon Musk, one of the richest men on the planet, according to Forbes, has taken over a powerful medium, and that he manages it to shape opinions or trends, is dark, murky and ridiculously uncontroversial...
Despite the fact that in a world where monopolies and the increasingly evident battle to occupy our time by emulating Tik Tok is becoming more and more overwhelming, let's not forget that nothing that today generates so many secondary evils was elaborated, thought out or devised to do just what it does. From the ‘like’ of you-know-which social network to the ‘swipe’ of another, and the scroll of (well, you get the point...), the word ‘ideal site on the internet’ is too overused, unfortunately... Remember how this post began: ‘Power is Power, my dear...’ And it seems that no matter when you read this, it's always the same... Draw your own conclusions.
