I recently shared with you a post where I showed you my visit to a technology store, which recently opened in my town.
In this post I told you about my impressions of the place, the positive thing about having such a store in my small town and showed you some of the devices they had there. I also mentioned that I had bought a printer, an HP Laser MFP 123w.
At the store they didn't do too much inspection, except just enough to make sure everything was in top condition before the equipment left the store. Once all the inspections were done I took it to grandma's house, which is where I would leave it.

Hace poco compartí con ustedes una publicación donde les mostraba mi visita a una tienda de tecnología, que inauguraron hace poco en mi ciudad.
En esta publicación les comenté mis impresiones del lugar, lo positivo de que haya una tienda así en mi pequeño pueblo y les mostré algunos de los dispositivos que tenían allí. También les mencioné que me había comprado una impresora, una HP Laser MFP 123w.
En la tienda no hicieron demasiada inspección, salvo la justa y necesaria para asegurarse de que todo estuviese en optimas condiciones antes de que el equipo saliera de la tienda. Una vez hecha todas las inspecciones la llevé a casa de la abuela, que es el lugar donde la dejaría.

Why did I buy it?
You may be wondering why I bought this printer, because besides the obvious, this one is almost a gift, since I am going to install it at grandma's house so my mom will have an extra income. The printer is still mine, but it will be working there, not at my house.
It happens that a lot of people circulate at grandma's house, so we put up a small sign at the entrance of the house where we offer the service of copying and scanning documents and since I am publishing this after a while of having undertaken that, it has gone quite well for my mom.
It is something for her and I must tell you that she is very happy with the printer, so far she has told me that it works great.
¿Por qué la compré?
Tal vez se pregunten para qué compré esta impresora, pues además de lo obvio, esta es casi un regalo, ya que la voy a instalar en casa de la abuela para que mi mamá tenga una entrada extra de dinero. La impresora sigue siendo mía, pero estará trabajando allá, no en mi casa.
Sucede que en casa de la abuela circula mucha gente, así que colocamos un pequeño cartel en la entrada de la casa en donde ofrecemos el servicio de copiado y escaneo de documentos y dado que esta publicación la hago después de un tiempo de haber emprendido eso, pues le ha ido bastante bien a mi mamá.
Es algo para ella y debo decirles que está muy contenta con la impresora, hasta ahora me ha dicho que funciona de maravilla.
Quick Opinion
It is a fast, easy to operate and good sized printer. I would say that it is quite suitable for office use, because in addition to its convenient size and elegant design, it can function as a photocopier, scanner and printer, plus it is a laser printer that works with toner. The 3 in one, to be clear.
Below you can see how the product came, with all its seals and packaging, well protected as expected.
Opinión rápida
Es una impresora rápida, fácil de manejar y de buen tamaño. Yo diría que es bastante apropiada para oficina, porque además de su cómodo tamaño y diseño elegante, puede funcionar como fotocopiadora, escaner e impresora, además de que es una impresora a laser que funciona con toner. El 3 en uno, para serles claro.
A continuación pueden ver como vino el producto, con todos sus sellos y embalajes, bien protegida como se espera.

Toner or ink?
As I said, it works with toner. You have to take something into account at the time of the first use and that is that you have to remove certain protections that the toner cartridge has inside.
Almost always these plastic protectors are orange and come off easily, they are protectors for the sensitive parts of the cartridge.
¿Toner o tinta?
Como les dije, funciona con toner. Tienen que tener algo muy en cuenta a la hora del primer uso y es que tienen que quitar ciertas protecciones que tiene el cartucho de toner en su interior.
Casi siempre estos protectores de plástico son de color naranja y salen con facilidad, son protectores para las partes sensibles del cartucho.

Now, which toner model does it support? There are toner cartridges that work with different types of printers. In this case, this printer model works with a HP 105A toner, that is the model that should be used to replace it, although you can also refill the toner to this cartridge but that's another story...
Ahora bien, ¿qué modelo de toner soporta? Hay cartuchos de toner que sirven para distintos tipos de impresora. Para este caso, este modelo de impresora trabaja con un toner HP 105A, ese es el modelo que se debe usar para reemplazarlo, aunque también se le puede recargar el toner a este cartucho pero esa es otra historia...

Three in one
As I said, it is a printer that has 3 functions. On its own, without connecting it to a PC or a cell phone, it can do the job of scanning, copying and printing; however, to digitize a document or to print a document that we have on the PC it is necessary to connect it.
In my case I am going to connect it to a pc that is at my grandmother's house, a desktop pc. For this we use the USB cable that comes with the printer, which is connected to the back of the printer next to the power port.
Tres en una
Como les dije, es una impresora que tiene 3 funciones. Ella por si sola, sin conectarla a una pc o un celular, puede hacer el trabajo de escanear, copiar y imprimir; sin embargo, para digitalizar un documento o para imprimir un documento que tenemos en la pc sí es necesario conectarla.
En mi caso yo la voy a conectar a una pc que está en casa de la abuela, una pc de escritorio. Para esto se hace uso del cable USB que trae la impresora, la cual va conectada en su parte trasera junto al puerto de corriente.

Software and drivers
In order to use the printer connected to the PC, specialized software must be downloaded.
Previously they included an installation CD with the drivers and software necessary for the correct operation of the equipment, but now it is not included.
How to do it? Easy, we simply look for the model of the equipment on the official HP website and from there we will obtain the software and drivers for the equipment. For other models you can do the same, in case you do not have the CD provided by the company in the equipment.
Programas y Controladores
Para poder usar la impresora conectada a la pc, hay que descargar el software especializado.
Anteriormente incluían un CD de instalación con los drivers y software necesarios para el correcto funcionamiento del equipo, pero ahora no lo incluye.
¿Cómo se hace? Fácil, simplemente buscamos el modelo del equipo en la página oficial de HP y desde allí obtendremos el software y controladores del equipo. Para otros modelos se puede hacer lo mismo, en caso de que no se tenga a la mano el CD que provee la compañía en el equipo.

After downloading all the software for the computer, which in my case has windows, we run it. It will start extracting all the files and load the installation program.
Luego de haber descargado todo el software para el equipo, que en mi caso tiene windows, lo ejecutamos. Comenzará la extracción de todos los archivos y cargará el programa de instalación.
As you can see in the screen below, there are several steps to follow. First of all, there is the Welcome tab, where it shows us which models this software is compatible with. There we can see the 135, which is the one I have.
Click next and continue with the process, where we have to accept the "Installation settings and agreements".
Como pueden ver en la pantalla a continuación, hay varias etapas que debemos seguir. Primeramente está la pestaña de Bienvenido, donde nos muestra con qué modelos es compatible este software. Ahí podemos ver la 135, que es la que yo tengo.
Se hace clic en siguiente y continuamos con el proceso, donde hay que aceptar los "Ajustes y acuerdos de instalación".
The software will search for the connected printer, but you have to tell it how it is connected. In this case, the printer has the option to connect through the wireless network, but I connected it through USB because I have the cable.
Each one must choose the option that his device allows and once selected the way in which the software will look for the printer, click on next again.
El software se encargará de buscar la impresora que tenemos conectada, pero hay que indicarle de qué manera está conectada. En este caso, la impresora tiene la opción de conectarse a través de la red inhalámbrica, pero yo la conecté por USB porque tengo el cable.
Cada uno debe escoger la opción que le permita su dispositivo y una vez seleccionada la manera en como el software buscará la impresora, se hace clic en siguinte otra vez.
All the utilities to install are selected. In my case I left it as the installation process says and clicked next.
Se seleccionan todas las utilidades a instalar. En mi caso yo lo dejé tal cual como dice el proceso de instalación e hice clic en siguiente.
The program will install the program automatically and will show us a progress bar that serves as an indicator, to know how much time is left for the installation to finish.
When the software is installed, it will display a screen indicating that the installation is complete. Click on the finish button and the printer will be ready to print from the PC.
El programa instalará el programa automáticamente y nos mostrará una barra de progreso que nos sirve como indicativo, para saber cuánto falta para que finalice la instalación.
Cuando el software esté instalado, nos mostrará una pantalla indicándonos que la instalación ha finalizado. Hacemos clic en el botón finalizar y la impresora estará lista para imprimir desde la pc.

First uses...
Below you can see the printer next to my desktop computer. As you can see, it takes up very little space compared to other larger multifunctional printers on the market.
Primeros usos...
A continuación pueden ver la impresora al lado de mi computadora de escritorio. Como pueden ver, ocupa un espacio pequeño, si se compara con otra multifuncionales de mayor tamaño que existen en el mercado.
It holds a maximum of 150 pages in the tray, which is quite a lot for the size of this convenient printer.
Here you can see a test print I did from the PC. I opened a word document and printed my user name. It printed perfect and very fast.
Esta soporta en la bandeja un máximo de 150 páginas, bastantes para el tamaño que tiene esta cómoda impresora.
Aquí pueden ver una prueba de impresión que hice desde la PC. Abrí un documento word e imprimí mi nombre de usuario. Imprimió perfecto y muy rápido.
On the other hand, it also has the scanner cover, from where you can digitize documents and print them.
There are two ways to print a document that we already have on hand and I will explain them to you. In either case, you have to place the document in the scanner tray as shown in the pictures.
Por otra parte, también tiene la tapa del escaner, desde donde se pueden digitalizar documentos e imprimirlos.
Hay dos maneras de imprimir un documento que ya tenemos a la mano y se los voy a explicar. En cualquiera de los casos, hay que colocar el documento en la bandeja del escaner de la manera como se aprecia en las fotografías.

You can scan the document and print a copy from the printer itself, without the need of an external device such as a PC or a cell phone.
This is the first way, from the panel that comes with the printer itself. As if it were an ordinary photocopier.
Se puede escanear el documento e imprimir una copia desde la propia impresora, sin necesidad de un dispositivo externo como una pc o un celular.
Esta es la primera manera, desde el panel que trae la propia impresora. Como si fuese una fotocopiadora común y corriente de toda la vida.
The other way is with the software we have just installed. With this software you can scan the document that is on the computer and digitize it.
To do this we select the HP MFP Scan program, which should be in the installed programs in the windows menu, and select the option "Quick Scan".
La otra manera es con el software que acabamos de instalar. Con este software se puede escanear el documento que está en el equipo y digitalizarlo.
Para ello seleccionamos el programa HP MFP Scan, que debería estar en los programas instalados del menú de windows, y seleccionar la opción "Digitalización rápida"
This option scans the document quickly and it will appear on the screen in image format. You can edit it, add information to it and then print it again.
Con esta opción se escanea el documento rápidamente y aparecerá en pantalla en formato de imagen. Se puede editar, agregarle información y luego volver a imprimirlo.

As you can see, it's a pretty handy and easy to use piece of equipment that will be of great use to my mom. So far she tells me that it has worked well and she has experience working with photocopiers, so if she has given it the green light, I am more than happy for her to have it.

Como ven, es un equipo bastante práctico y fácil de usar, que le será de gran utilidad a mi mamá. Hasta ahora me dice que ha funcionado bien y ella tiene experiencia trabajando con fotocopiadoras, así que si ella le ha dado luz verde, yo me siento más que satisfecho con que ella la tenga.
