Hello Hive, I had Archer pending for building and testing for a while, and I could finally dedicate him some time to see his potential. I have to admit that units following The Hunter path are my least favorite in Honkai Star Rail (HRS), but playing with Archer was fun! Here are my two hours of work for setting Archer into a decent new build in HSR.

So, characters following the path of The Hunt are single-target oriented. That means they do good damage, but to one enemy at a time. After some point, the game added follow-up attack dynamics to these types of units. They now attack only one enemy, yet several times within one turn window. Archer combines this dynamic with another interesting one that hadn't been used since Dang Hen two years ago. Archer is based on skill point consumption and generation. He adds two more skill point slots in battle, making a total of 7, and he consumes 2 of those points for using his skill. He also has a way to generate skill points using his allies and by casting his ultimate move.

During this update, players are being rewarded with Archers' signature lightcone but only if they pull 200 times on banners. That is, of course, three times more than what a regular F2P player can do, so no signature weapon for him. Instead, I used the next best choice, which is the "Cruising in the Stellar Sea" lightcone. One great feature of HRS is that it gives players a useful database for builds. When you open the character artifact menu, it provides recommendations based on players' builds. The suggestion for Archer is an old set originally made for quantum characters. It boosts damage and includes some ignore defense percentage. This was considered a very strong set early in the game. It is paired with a two-piece artifact that enhances skills based on the character's critical rate percentage. This is especially good for Archer since his main damage source is spamming his bow attack.

As for team composition, Archer has two old great options: Bryona and Sparkle. Bryona is a buffer following the path og The Harmony. She gives an immediate turn to an ally and boosts critical damage. The best thing about her is that she is a permanent banner unit. On the other hand, Sparkle was released a year later as a premium option (sort of) for Bryona, but with the skill point dynamic. She increases the max skill points by 2 just like Archer, and together they give nine point slots during combat. She also enhances allies' critical damage and moves them forward in turn. Lastly, I added Huo Huo as a sustain and ultimate energy charging.

En cuanto a la composición del equipo, Archer cuenta con dos grandes opciones: Bryona y Sparkle. Bryona es un refuerzo que sigue el camino de La Armonía. Otorga un turno inmediato a un aliado y potencia el daño crítico. Lo mejor de ella es que es una unidad permanente. Por otro lado, Sparkle se lanzó un año después como una opción premium (en cierto modo) para Bryona, pero con la dinámica de puntos de habilidad. Archer's main source of damage is his skill. It consumes 2 skill points, and it can be spammed as long as you have them. With the increase of skill point slots to nine, four easy skills can be used. Added to that, by having Sparkle's ultimate ready, we can recharge seven skill points to continue the spam.

The ultimate move, aside from nostalgic feelings over the Fate story, is quite powerful as well. It provides one big instance of damage and four charges for the follow-up attacks Archer can do. Dots below the character icon indicate those. Anytime an ally does an attack, Archer launches a follow-up attack with his blades, spending one charge point.
In terms of damage, I did decent to low numbers at the beginning of the fight. Once I obtained buffs from supports and Archer's kit itself, the skill damage went from 18k to 400k. His ultimate move also increased from 50k to 350k. As a reminder, I built him in just 2 hours, and his artifacts aren't perfect. He could still increase his critical stats more as well as his attack. I think with more investment, Archer can do over 1M damage per bow attack, and the community is stating how high in the meta he currently is. I stand by that; I see a lot of potential in this unitl, and I'm happy a limited character came strong enough for the first time in a Hoyoverse game. Creo que con más inversión, Archer puede infligir más de 1 millón de daño por ataque con arco, y la comunidad está comentando lo alto que está en el metajuego actual. Lo mantengo; le veo mucho potencial a esta unidad, y me alegra que un personaje limitado haya sido lo suficientemente fuerte por primera vez en una partida de Hoyoverse.
