For all of us gamers who grew up, lived or enjoyed part of the 90's and early 2000's one of the best memories, best experiences and most likely the first approach to video games and this great world were the Arcades rooms where we always wanted to spend all the hours of the day and where when we had the opportunity we enjoyed the variety of video games we could find, which we played on machines or simulators much larger than us. As part of the focus for this week of Ready Player Hive I want to remember and tell you about the experiences I can recall in these Arcade rooms and what I miss most about that time.

When I was a kid I never managed to have my own console and as expected the first encounters with video games were with the Arcade machines that were in a couple of malls in my city and although they were not really that expensive I never went very often for the typical reason that my parents thought it was "bad" to be playing video games very often and more of those myths against video games that we lived in our childhood, Something curious about what I remember from this time of the Arcade and the times I went there was that there were not so many "typical" machines of buttons and lever and instead the few that were there were combat games that being honest I do not remember what they were and also I was never very good or very fanatic of this type of video games.
The vast majority of the arcade machines were something always called "simulators" those where the controls or designs were designed to make you feel inside the game as were the shooting games with guns and weapons so that you yourself had to aim at the screen and eliminate the enemies, this type of video games were among my favorites, but for obvious reasons many times I could not play them much for the typical opinion of being too "violent or bloody", so after a couple of games I had to go to another Arcade but still the others in which more hours played were among my favorites.

The arcade games that I liked the most and with which I remember spending more hours were the driving simulators whether they were motorcycles, cars and even snowboarding. The ones I enjoyed the most were the motorcycle ones because the bike in which you played were very realistic and could move laterally and you could be quite inclined while playing, one of the funniest experiences was once when I was playing for a long time and after so much excitement when taking one of the curves of the track my hands slipped off the handlebars and I practically fell off the arcade, I remember that although maybe I should feel some rage instead it was quite funny the fact of being so concentrated playing that I practically ended up on the floor when I almost fell from the Arcade, despite that I kept playing and luckily it seemed that other people preferred combat or shooting video games so I could play many times without anyone waiting to play in the Arcade in which I was.

Another somewhat more unpleasant experience and although it does not have to do directly with an arcade machine, but it did happen in one of the arcade rooms was with the Air Hokey, in the arcade rooms of a mall in my city there were always a couple of these Hokey tables and they were really my favorite things every time I went to one of them, as you might imagine and something that although perhaps not so frequent but painful is to hit your hand and fingers with the puck, I remember an occasion in which I was winning and between the excitement of winning, I was hitting the puck as far as possible from my goal to keep the pressure and add more points so I was not careful and placed my other hand on the edge of the table and as expected the puck bounced on one of the sides and then went right to where my hand was and hit me pretty hard.
On this occasion my annoyance was enough that I remember to have stopped playing out of anger even when I was winning in the scoreboard and just go to look for another machine to play Lol. As a child there were not hundreds of times that I could go to the arcade, but there were several occasions and in all of them it was always a lot of fun to be playing and going from one machine to the other for several hours. Very probably in the future I would try to acquire one of these arcade machines to have in my house and play from time to time to remember this fun time.

Para todos los Gamer que crecimos, vivimos o disfrutamos parte de los 90´e inicios de los 2000´uno de los mejores recuerdos, mejores experiencias y muy probablemente el primer acercamiento con los videojuegos y este gran mundo fueron las salas Árcades en donde siempre deseábamos pasar todas las horas del día y en donde cuando teníamos la oportunidad disfrutábamos con la variedad de videojuegos que podíamos encontrar, los cuales jugábamos en máquinas o simuladores mucho más grandes que nosotros. Como parte del enfoque para esta semana de Ready Player Hive quiero recordar y contarles sobre las experiencias que puedo recodar en estas salas Árcade y lo que más extraño de esa época.

Cuando era pequeño nunca logre tener una consola propia y como era de esperar los primeros encuentros con videojuegos fueron con las maquinas Árcade que habían en un par de centros comerciales en mi ciudad y aunque realmente no eran tan costosas nunca iba muy seguido por el típico motivo que mis padres pensaban que era “malo” estar jugando videojuegos muy seguido y más de esos mitos contra los videojuegos que vivimos en nuestra infancia, algo curioso de lo que recuerdo de esta época de las Árcade y de las veces que iba allá era que no solían haber tantas maquinas “típicas” de botones y palanca y en su lugar las pocas que habían era de juegos de combate que siendo sincero no recuerdo cuales era y además nunca fui ni muy bueno ni muy fanático de este tipo de videojuegos.
La gran mayoría de las maquinas Árcade eran algo que siempre en llamado “simuladores” aquellas en donde los controles o diseños eran pensados para hacerte sentir dentro del videojuego como lo eran los videojuegos de disparos con las pistolas y armas para que tú mismo tuvieras que apuntar a la pantalla y eliminar a los enemigos, este tipo de videojuegos estaban dentro de mis favoritos, pero por obvios motivos muchas veces no los podía jugar mucho por la típica opinión de ser demasiado “violentos o sangrientos”, por lo cual luego de un par de partidas tenía que ir a otra Árcade pero igual las otras en las cuales más horas jugaban eran de mis favoritas.

Las árcades que más me gustaban y con las cuales recuerdo haber pasado más horas eran los simuladores de manejo ya fueran los de motocicletas, carros e incluso Snowboard. Las que más disfrutaba eran las de motocicleta debido a que la moto en la cual uno jugaba eran muy realistas y además se podía mover lateralmente y podías llegar a estar bastante inclinado mientras jugabas, una de las experiencias más divertidas fue una vez que estaba jugando durante bastante tiempo y luego de tanta emoción al tomar una de las curvas de la pista se me resbalaron las manos de los manubrios y prácticamente me caí de la árcade, recuerdo que aunque tal vez debía sentir algo de rabia en su lugar se me hizo bastante gracioso el hecho de estar tan concentrado jugando que prácticamente termine en el piso al casi caerme de la Árcade, a pesar de eso seguí jugando y por suerte parecía que las demás personas preferían los videojuegos de combate o disparos por lo cual podía jugar muchas veces sin que nadie estuviera esperando para jugar en la Arcade en la cual estaba yo.

Otra experiencia algo más desagradable y aunque no tiene que ver directamente con una maquina árcade, pero si sucedió en una de las salas árcade fue con el Hokey de Aire, en las salas Árcade de un centro comercial de mi ciudad siempre había un par de estas mesas de Hokey y realmente eran de mis cosas favoritas cada vez que iba a una de ellas, como se podría imaginar y algo que aunque tal vez no sea tan frecuente pero si doloroso es golpearte la mano y los dedos con el disco, recuerdo una ocasión en la cual estaba ganando y entre la emoción de estar ganando, yo estaba golpeando el disco lo más lejos posible de mi portería para mantener la presión y sumar más puntos por lo cual no tuve cuidado y coloque la otra mano en el borde de la mesa y como era de esperar el disco reboto en uno de los lados para luego dirigirse justo a donde estaba mi mano y golpearme bastante fuerte.
En esta ocasión si fue bastante mi molestia tanto que recuerdo haber dejado de jugar de la rabia aun cuando iba ganando en el marcador y simplemente irme a buscar otra máquina para jugar Lol. De pequeño no fueron cientos de veces que puede ir a las salas árcades, pero si llegaron a ser varias ocasiones y en todas siempre era mucho la diversión de estar jugando y pasando de una maquina a la otra durante varias horas. Muy probablemente en un futuro intentaría poder adquirir una de estas máquinas Árcade para tener en mi casa y jugar de vez en cuando para recordar esta época tan divertida.
