From Playstation 2 to PC Gaming
Back in the 2000s the only way for kids in my neighborhood if they wanted to play video game was by going to PS rental cafe. Basically, kids went there to rent a PS 1 or PS 2 for as little as $0.3 per hour. In that place, you could find various selection of games. Typically, I spent mostly 6-8 hours almost daily in that kind of place. It was one of my favorite thing to do after school and quite memorable, I was the only girl who went to places like that where it was filled with boys and adults.
Even to this day because of those places, I particularly love Co-op and mission based games. Among the titles that I enjoyed playing was bunch of desert storm variations, Bully, and even games like Eragon. These rental PS place was quite a thriving business. However, as online gaming began to gain popularity and internet cafe was a thing, my hangout spot after school changed. Instead of going to these PS rental places, I went to Internet cafes to play online games. Eventually, I stopped going to these cafes altogether when I got my own laptop around the time I was in 6th grade. But I still remember memories of the PS cafe because now as adult, whenever I go back to my neighborhood, people would still talk about those time.
“ Remember the time you played with Fiz? You spent hours on that place and didn’t even want to go back home.”
“ Oh, look, that’s x,y, z they used to play PS with you when you were a kid. You were good friends with them”
So, things like that makes me remember those time and as well as the game I have never yet to finish. They were like unfinished memories that only recently, I got to find them again. For the longest time, especially as the demands of games grew with higher system requirements, I hadn’t been able to play any games due to my laptop's specs. Just over two years ago, I started the process of building a PC, only soon realizing that my life was not confined to a single location. As a nomad, I would be challenging to bring PC around. So I ended up just stick with a laptop. It was in 2021, I decided to register on Steam and acquire some games that my laptop could handle. My primary focus was revisiting the games that I haven’t managed to finish. It’s also why though I can play popular titles now or modern warfare, I stick with the classic and even “ancient” game.
I started with a humble list but soon grew, because a very good friend of mine generously gifted me more for my birthday. Another common challenge that I had is that my internet often struggling handling bigger sized downloads. It’s why , even though I had made these purchases in 2021, it wasn't until recently that I finally managed to play games like Left 4 Dead.
After playing Left 4 Dead yesterday, I wished I had discovered and played this game much sooner . There’s no better scenario that I could ask for especially to spend my time. It has everything I like, a blend of zombie survival, cooperative gameplay and also rouge shooting. In fact, I'm starting to get quite addicted to it, and in less than 24 hours, I've already played 6. 5 hours of it. While I was checking out on youtube, I came across some interesting mods for the game. Still, I find the classic experience better as I prefer shooting zombies and find them enjoyable. At the same time, I also finally learned and bothered trying to record my gameplay. This is what I uploaded on my youtube channel. ( I tried uploading Left 4 Dead but it took so long for me to upload).
Left 4 dead
I was doing dead center which basically a basic gameplay and the start of this game. The setting revolves around shopping mall and getting out of it. Sometimes other players are nice but can be shitty and just leaving you to die when you’re pinned by a monster that requires other player to get it off. I don’t know how many bots are in this game but even if there is, I had real fun playing the game on all levels difficulty. It was my first time playing but now, I get the hang of the gameplay and controls. I saw that in game there are different levels of it and would love trying them all after I am getting good at navigating the area and the movement as I still struggle with it.
Bully Scholarship Edition
The next game that I’ve been checking out is basically Bully except I have done only 20% of the game and it’s still a long way to go. It is something that back in the day I didn’t get to finish and I am intending of finishing them. I am recording this one as a sneak peek. You can subscribe to my youtube channel as well. Did you know that recently it was 17 years since Bully was released? I re-tweeted the announcement the other day. I can’t believe it was already that long.
I am not sure why Rockstar wouldn’t want to create another Bully. I mean, at the time the storyline and writing was good. The gameplay was fun but maybe if today they make a game called Bully, I get the gist it won’t end well. The only problem I have with Bully is that the control isn’t so up-to-date. It was quite challenging to play with keyboard although I can see how good it would be playing with a joystick.
Asphalt 9 Legends
It was the game that I wanted to play for a long time. I used to play Need For Speed and somehow, I couldn’t play Asphalt cause I was brookie and my laptop/phone specs couldn’t handle that. Just a few days ago, I downloaded it and started playing it.
I guess this week since this month, I am not on Netflix, these games are going to be my entertainment. I find Left 4 dead 2 more complex and fun than Combat Master. It’s also less lagging as well given that my internet speed can be quite as slow as snails.
Tomb Raider
It’s one of the game I wanted to play for the longest of time. I only saw walk through of it and was recently gifted by friends. I am not sure how long it would take me to finish all but from the walk through, it looks like 5-6 hours would do. Still, I gotta do Bully and Left 4 Dead 2 before everything else.
