Do you remember your first time?
I do.
But no, I am not going to get into the glorious pathetic details of it here on chain. But, when it comes to my first kiss, sure - I can set the scene. And perhaps in the comment section, you can reminisce about your first kiss also. It might be fun.
Or maybe it will bring up painful memories of failure.
For me, it was fun. However, I was a "late bloomer" in this regard considering what it was like at the time. Most of the proper first kisses kids had in my town, were at the end of primary school, playing games like spin the bottle at parties. For me, this didn't happen, because I was a social outcast in this regard, due to the colour of my skin.
High school was a different story though.
And I felt it from the day I walked into the school of predominantly unknown kids I'd never seen before. As I walked through the middle of the school aimlessly and alone, there was a "hey you!" shouted at me and I turned to see a gorgeous brunette with beautiful big brown eyes beckoning me over to her and her group of friends. And with a musical laugh and a flutter of eyelashes, she said, "You're cute. I'm Maria."
Finally... I was home.
But, she was not my first kiss, however, we were friends for years afterward. And it was months more before I actually had my first kiss, mostly because I was scared. I could speak to girls, I got plenty of interest, but I had this dread of "what if I fuck it up" and didn't know what to say to instigate the kiss in the first place. I didn't want it to be awkward.
The setup
Now, I am guessing they have something similar in other places, but where I grew up in Australia, there was a thing called a "Blue Light Disco". This was a dance held in the middle of the town at a large community hall, that required school ID to get in, there was no alcohol, and once you left, you couldn't re-enter. They ran from about 7-12 on a Friday night once a month, and in a small town, they were popular places for kids to hang out, and dance in large circles.
And oh, they were organised by the police, hence the name.
I had been to a few with a couple friends and toward the end of the night, the custom was to play a few slow songs so that kids could also slow dance. I had danced a few over the time and while not Fred Astaire, I could hold rhythm. But still, I hadn't had my first kiss, until the night it happened.
I don't remember the song.
I do remember the girl. She was a gorgeous blonde named Kerryn, with bright blue eyes that sparkled when she smiled with her braces. She was a year older than me, and while we didn't travel in the same circles, we would occasionally have a chat together at the breaks, before she went off with her real friends. She was also a bit taller than me, something I have never really had an issue with in regards to women.
The end of the night arrived and the slow songs started to play. If I remember correctly, Kerryn came over to me and asked to dance with a smile and those glittering eyes of hers, and of course I said yes. And as we danced, my hands on her hips, her arms around my neck, swaying in a slow circle to something like Rush Rush by Paula Abdul. I didn't want to assume, make a move and get rejected, but I also had no idea what to say without it seeming cheesy, or desperate, or just plain stupid. So I moved my head away from her shoulder, looked into her eyes and said,
I suppose you want me to kiss you.
And Kerryn smiled, closed her eyes and leaned in to kiss me. A proper kiss. A sweet kiss. And while I had no reference point at the time, I have plenty since, and it was a good kiss. Even an excellent kiss. A perfect kiss for the moment of the kind that isn't going to be forgotten - Not only because it was the first. And when we stopped kissing, her eyes opened after mine, and that spark in them will not be forgotten either.
Do you remember your first kiss?
