Hola hola gente de internet ¿Cómo están? Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes lo que fue parte de un evento al que asistí para acompañar a mi amiga. Ella es barista, y desde siempre le ha apasionado todas las actividades que tengan que ver con café, así que en esta ocasión fue invitada a una competencia de barismo donde debía demostrar sus habilidades. El nombre de esta competencia es "Aeropress" (porque se hace con ese método el cuál se trata de un filtrado del café por prensado. No es la primera vez que ella compite en uno de estos concursos pero sí es la primera vez que yo voy, así que estaba muy entusiasmada por verla a ella, apoyarla y también porque el café es una de mis bebidas favoritas.
Hello hello internet people, how are you? Today I want to share with you what was part of an event I attended to accompany my friend. She is a barista, and has always been passionate about all activities that have to do with coffee, so this time she was invited to a barista competition where she had to demonstrate her skills. The name of this competition is "Aeropress" (because it is made with this method which involves filtering the coffee by pressing. It is not the first time she competes in one of these competitions but it is the first time I go, so I was very excited to see her, support her and also because coffee is one of my favorite beverages.
El evento empezaba en la tarde, así que al salir del trabajo me subí a mi bici moto y me dirigí al lugar del evento 😉. El hotel intercontinental de Valencia, el cuál por cierto estaba muy bonito, la zona de la piscina estaba espectacular y francamente el calor que había hacía que te dieran ganas de darte un chapuzón 😃.
The event was starting in the afternoon, so when I left work I got on my bike and headed to the event venue 😉. The intercontinental hotel in Valencia, which by the way was very nice, the pool area was spectacular and frankly the heat made you want to take a dip 😃.
En la zona dispuesta para el evento había muchos estand con marcas de café de especialidad, es decir, cafés de altísima calidad que los baristas usan para sus demostraciones, pero también estaban disponibles para la venta, y en realidad estaban a muy buen precio, algo que desde luego me alegró porque usualmente este tipo de café tiene un precio muy elevado. 😊
In the area set up for the event there were many stands with specialty coffee brands, that is, very high quality coffees that baristas use for their demonstrations, but they were also available for sale, and they were actually at a very good price, something that I was certainly happy about because usually this type of coffee has a very high price. 😊
Me sorprendió ver todas las cosas que se pueden lograr con el café, pues algunos artistas, como la chica de la foto, no solo lo usa como bebida energética o por el simple placer de beberlo y ya, ella lleva la experiencia a un nivel más artístico y lo usa como un recurso de expresión 😍, a través del cuál ella deja volar su imaginación y crea verdaderas obras de arte.
I was surprised to see all the things that can be achieved with coffee, because some artists, like the girl in the photo, not only uses it as an energy drink or for the simple pleasure of drinking it, she takes the experience to a more artistic level and uses it as a means of expression 😍, through which she lets her imagination fly and creates true works of art.

Allí estaba mi amiga, preparada y lista para iniciar la competencia, muy segura de sí misma, y me alegró muchísimo comprobar que se puso tan contenta al verme allí, apoyándola 🤗. Eran 30 y tantos baristas compitiendo y los equipos fueron organizados mediante un sorteo. Albany, mi amiga, quedó en el 6to equipo.
There was my friend there, prepared and ready to start the competition, very confident, and I was so happy to see that she was so happy to see me there, supporting her 🤗. There were 30-odd baristas competing and the teams were organized by a draw. Albany, my friend, was placed on the 6th team.
Cuando les tocaba el turno a cada equipo ellos tenían 5 minutos para organizar el mise en place y 10 para hacer el filtrado del café, y según lo que recuerdo, si no estoy mal ellos no podían sacar menos de 50 Ml de café o de lo contrario serían descalificados. Depende del vertido del agua, la cantidad de tiempo de infusión y la presión que se ejerza, el café tendrá notas diferentes (y eso era lo principal para evaluar en la competencia) también la pureza, la intensidad y la cantidad del resultado.
When it was the turn of each team they had 5 minutes to organize the mise en place and 10 minutes to filter the coffee, and as I remember, if I am not wrong they could not get less than 50 Ml of coffee or else they would be disqualified. Depending on the pouring of the water, the amount of infusion time and the pressure exerted, the coffee will have different notes (and that was the main thing to evaluate in the competition) also the purity, intensity and quantity of the result.

Lamentablemente en esta ocasión mi amiga no quedó clasificada pero de todos modos me alegró mucho haber estado allí para ella demostrándole que independientemente del resultado yo creo en sus capacidades, en el proceso que ella lleva a cabo 😊. Las competencias no son para demostrar quien es mejor, sino para alentarte a ti mismo a mejorar y a superarte cada día, y yo sé que mi amiga es muy buena en eso, por eso siento admiración y respeto por ella.
Unfortunately on this occasion my friend didn't qualify but anyway I was very happy to have been there for her showing her that regardless of the result I believe in her abilities, in the process she is going through 😊. Competitions are not to show who is better, but to encourage yourself to improve and better yourself every day, and I know my friend is very good at that, that's why I feel admiration and respect for her.
