Greetings every one, I want to talk about a very important lesson every parents and guardians should take not of.
Let me speak to your heart not as a preacher, not as a critic, but as someone who truly cares about what your child becomes in a world that’s loud, reckless, and often unkind.
Show your daughters their nakedness.
Because if you don’t, the world will and when it does, it won’t be from a place of love.
It will be from a place of lust, confusion, shame, and manipulation.
One of the greatest mistakes we make especially in our African and religious homes is silence.
We avoid naming the body. We act like certain words are cursed. We dodge the conversation about breasts, buttocks, and vaginas as though naming them will corrupt a child’s soul.
So we give them silly nicknames. We pretend they don’t exist. And in that silence, we leave the door wide open for strangers, predators, and misinformed peers to fill in the blanks.
Her body is not a curse. It is not a secret. It is not shameful.
Her body is sacred and until she understands it, she cannot protect it.
You are not spoiling your daughter by teaching her the right language. You are giving her the tools to stand strong. Because the child who cannot name her body cannot defend it.
Call it what it is. Let her know:
“This is your breast.”
“This is your vagina.”
“This is your buttocks.”
“These are the no-go areas.
Not because they’re dirty, but because they’re yours.
And yours alone.”
Teach her that her body deserves respect not because of her age, but because of her existence. Help her understand that “NO” is a full sentence. That silence is never consent.
That anyone no matter how close who crosses the line, is wrong.
The body is not the problem. The silence is.
You talk to your child about math and manners. You teach her to say “please” and “thank you.” But the one thing that could protect her dignity and shape her destiny?
You keep it hidden. That is not wisdom. That is risk.
Don’t wait until something bad happens before you start talking. Don’t wait until she’s fifteen and broken.
Don’t wait until she starts asking questions that were your responsibility to answer years ago.
Let her know her worth before the world sells her a cheaper version. Let her trust your voice before she learns to trust the wrong one.
You are not making her “fast” by telling her the truth.
You are making her free.
You are making her aware.
You are making her whole.
She deserves to grow up knowing that her body belongs to her not to curiosity, not to culture, not to abuse.
Because the moment you choose silence, you give the world permission to speak for you.
And the world does not always speak with love.
This is not about raising daughters who are grown too soon.
It’s about raising daughters who are prepared, protected, and powerful.
So say it. Say it early. Say it often. Say it without shame.
And she will thank you, not just as a child, but as a woman who knew her worth before anyone had the chance to question it.
