I witnessed a very special day in the life of someone very close to my heart, my best friend from high school got married to her long-time boyfriend. It was not just a simple wedding for me. It was emotional meaningful and full of love and memories that I will always treasure.
My best friend worked in Dubai after we graduated from college. That’s where she met her boyfriend, now her husband. He is half Indian and half Arab, and from the start, he was very serious about her. I still remember when she first told me about him, her eyes were full of excitement and her stories made me feel so thrilled of joy.
To be honest, not everyone around her believed in the relationship. Some people were judgmental. You know how it is when you’re in a relationship with someone from another country, some say. “What if it’s not real? or “What if he has other intentions?” But as for me, I always supported her. I saw how genuinely happy she was, and I believed in their love from the very beginning. That’s why, when she was still unsure about saying yes to him, she told me, “You were the only one who gave you full support aside my family.” And that really meant a lot to me.
When the wedding day came, I was both happy and emotional. She asked me to light their unity candle during the ceremony, I felt so honored. Out of all her many friends, she chose me to be part of that special moment. She also asked me to give a speech during the reception. I was nervous, but I spoke from the heart. I shared how proud I was of her and how much I admire their relationship. I also reminded everyone how true love can win, eve when people doubt it.
After the wedding, I looked back ta our memories, from high school until now. Eve if she based in Dubai and I’m busy with work and family. We still make time for each other. Every time she comes home, we make sure to meet. I never forget her birthday and she never forget mine. She is even the God mother of my daughter, Morning Belle. She is such a generous and thoughtful godmother.
Even with the distance and changes in our lives, our friendship stayed strong. And for me that’s rare and beautiful. We don’t talk every day, but the connection is still there, solid and full of respect.
True friendship is not about how often you talk. It’s about how deep the bond is, and how much you support each other, especially during big life moments. I realized that no matter how busy life gets, you will always find time for people who matter to you. Her wedding reminded me that live is not about what others think, it’s about what makes you truly happy and who stands by you along the way.
To my best friend, thank you for letting me be part of your love story. I will never forget your wedding day and how beautiful you looked, not just on the outside, but in your heart as well. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become, and I wish you and your husband a lifetime of togetherness, happiness, respect and love. Also don’t forget for the long patience always.
